Hi there,

Some of these issues should resolve when you upgrade to Firefox17. We've noticed some issues with the versions below 17 (specifically 16, but I see you're on 15).

Some of these are style choices, but I gladly take all feedback back to the team - all well-reasoned feedback (like yours) is valuable to us as we constantly are improving our tools.

Just let me know if you experience additional bugs after you upgrade!

Cheers!

(If this is the wrong forum for this topic, please move it.)

I saw the new sticky post announcing these changes, including the statement "Our visual and text editors feature the same functions, but look better! "

Well, some may think they look better, but they're a lot harder to use. I use the text editor to upload media. After I've selected or uploaded an image, I don't get to scroll down anymore to type in and/or select all the controls I want to specify. Instead,

1. All these controls are squished into the rightmost quarter of the popup box: leaving most of the popup box either blank (if I've uploaded one image) or full of images that I did not select. Really bad use of real estate.

2. All the text entry fields except "Caption" are cut off at the right hand side, so I cannot see all the text I'm typing. If I type the alphabet into the "description" box, I can see only letters a through o before letters start disappearing off the right edge, and I don't see them again until "wxyz" appears wrapped around on the next line. (I'm using a text zoom level of 170%.)

3. The Caption text entry box appears to be resizable, but none of the others are. I expect that if they are, their little resize widget has also vanished off the right edge.

4. If I've selected or uploaded multiple images, I can't tell whether the control information on the right is meant to apply to *all* of them, or only to the one I presently have selected. It would be weird if it were all (all images linking to the same URL??), but I couldn't tell how to affect just one of them.

5. In "media library" mode, I would much, much, much rather see a list of filenames than a grid of thumbnail images (which also take longer to load). Is there a way to change that setting?

However, I am still not able to get a form to show up on my own, for instance on the Contact page.

After you paste in the form and click Preview, do you see the form in the preview window?

What exactly happens when you click the blue Update button? Does the form code disappear from the editor? The page on the public side?

I wonder if you'd mind taking a few screenshots (JPEG, PNG or PDF format, if possible) of what you see at some of the steps above where things aren't working as they should, to help in troubleshooting.

Hi there - thanks for the info. I think I see what the problem is: your site seemed to be missing the Visual Editor. There are two modes for the editing window - Visual Editor and HTML. The contact-form code gets added in the Visual Editor mode. Since you didn't have a Visual Editor, that may be why your form wasn't working.

I cleared your blog's cache, which looks to have made the Visual Editor reappear, and added the above contact-form code to your Bookings page - are you able to see it here?
http://procurateur.wordpress.com/details/booking/

Let me know if you're able to add the form to the second page. Thanks!

Hi there - would you be able to paste the form code you're trying to put into the post in a Pastebin so I can take a look?

For security reasons, WordPress does strip out certain types of code, such as iframes and JavaScript, so depending what your code consists of, this might explain why it's being stripped out.

A good way to add a contact form to your site is by using the built-in feature, described here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/

Advice:
When you start a new post or page, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done, set it back to publish and update it. Another option is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc

I could even save the draft, which I did several times. However, in the midst of reediting it froze again and then "poof" my perfect paragraph was gone! Is there anyway to retrieve these lost words? Why did this happen to begin with? It did not seem to be IE or the ISP's fault, because I could still move around. I just could not edit or find the words I had lost. Is there a way to go back to previous saves for that particular post?...Thank you in advance for your help.

If you are using an AdBlocker try disabling it please.
If you are not using the secure https:// login please try using it.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

You may be able to recover an earlier Post Revision. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/ Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post. If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

If you cannot locate the post by using the instructions I provided for locating and restoring a post revision, and it's not in your Trash folder http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/ then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

Advice:
When you start a new post, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done with the post, set it back to publish and update it. The problem with posts disappearing when saved as a draft has been around for a while, but only seems to hit a small number of people randomly.

The other choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

RATS! I'm so sorry this happened to you. :( Use an offline blog editor. Then you will have a backup copy on your own computer of posts and pages you create and publish from it to your blog.
