Hi,

I have a question about the $18 WordPress Domain package.

If I were to buy a domain from WordPress, for example I'll use dog.com, would I still have my link endings on each section of the website or will the website be completely masked so that it always says dog.com

In other words, if I clicked the 'about' section on my current website, it would take me to dog.wordpress.com/about

Now, what I'm worried about is if I buy the domain and it becomes dog.com. Then if click on about, will the address be dog.com/about or will it mask all link endings as dog.com and not show the /about or /contact-us ?

Thank you very much in advanced,
Nick

You don't want to cancel the domain with your current registrar - you want to change the name servers to point to WordPress.COM - if you cancel your domain someone else can pick it up and squat on it until you pay them a lot of money - WordPress.COM is not set up to accept a domain transfer into their system - you NEVER want to loose control of your domain - I have know some people that have had that happen and it was very ugly - I have seen several people in the .COM & .ORG forums that had their domain names scooped up and their traffic was sent to another site -

If you don't like your current registrar then move the name to another registrar

Domain name registration plus domain mapping costs $17.00 ($12.00 for mapping, $5 for registration) per year, per domain. There's also another $8 if you want your domain to remain private.

If that is so, the only nameservers that should be attached to the domain should be the three wordpress.com ones. And you should be doing this with your domain registar, not any host. All you need to do is modify your data at your registar and point them to use the nameservers here.

Hey

(sorry for possible cross-posting - I realized I posted in wrongly in the first place)

I own microfinance.dk and want my blog there. So i registred your nameserves with my administrator, bought credits and clicked 'put blog here.' But it doesn't seem to work.

My administrator does not want me to delete his NS - could that be a reason? Other ideas?

In the administration of my DNS, I have to put in an "A record." Now, I have this as an URL-forward from microfinance.dk to inclusivefinance.wordpress.org. When I put my blog on microfinance.dk though WordPress, what should the A record be? There is also something called C NAME - should that be changed too?

I ran the DNS-lookup too. Here are the results:
microfinance.dk. A IN 43200 149.6.48.253

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns3.wordpress.com.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns4.gratisdns.dk.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns5.gratisdns.dk.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns1.gratisdns.dk.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns1.wordpress.com.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns2.gratisdns.dk.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns2.wordpress.com.

microfinance.dk. NS IN 43200 ns3.gratisdns.dk.

ns1.gratisdns.dk. A IN 360 149.6.48.8

ns2.gratisdns.dk. A IN 43200 149.6.48.7

ns3.gratisdns.dk. A IN 43200 82.195.156.187

ns4.gratisdns.dk. A IN 43200 207.44.200.58

ns5.gratisdns.dk. A IN 43200 195.140.141.200

Right now, I switched back to inclusivefinance.wordpress.com, obviously.

Thanks!
