Linking isn't working for me at all. Whether I'm using basic HTML invented in the 90s, or using their little link button, WordPress isn't working.

It might have something to do with the fact that they are constantly reformatting every aspect of their software, which seems completely psychotic to me, as they had a very useful product to begin with. I regret having given them any of my money, and I feel like I hate their guts with a blind rage I have not experienced before.

WordPress, please allow people to make links. For crying out loud.

I took them out of the latest post but I will put them back in following the instructions so that you can see what's going on.
The blog is
The post is

OK, I just recreated the links and they worked. I am working from a different computer --don't know if that makes a difference.
I also noticed that an old post (I don't use them often) had links which worked when I created the post but were not working today.
http://uribotanicalgardens.wordpress.com/2011/10/27/go-native/

OK, followed your instructions on the links-support page and as directed in your answer above. Using Visual, not Text tab. Getting blue, underlined text which does not function as a link.

1) My reply wasn't a guess: I checked the sourcecode of your post before replying.

2) Yes it does matter if you have one http or two or none: the one will give a valid and working link, the others won't.

3) What had happened is that you had pasted the complete URLs (starting with http) after the http that's already there in the URL field as a suggestion. Now you removed the links and did them again more carefully, so you avoided duplicating the http. Nothing to do with the title.

4) Yes, the title is optional, and it's not supposed to be what we see on the post: it's extra info that shows up upon hover, so one can tell what the link is without having to click on it. There's no point entering "this" as the title: your titles in this case should be "YouTube video" or something like that.
