Nothing Found
It seems we can’t find what you’re looking for. Perhaps searching can help.

By default the front page of your blog displays all posts. The 404 (page not found) error message on the front page of the blog appeared because the Admin of the blog deleted the placeholder Hello World post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ As soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear. Read the differences between Pages and Posts.

P.S. Sorry about the multiple answers. I'm multitasking from work and the phone is ringing a lot.

@x4ashes4ashes
There is a long standing issue Staff are addressing in the next upgrade.

The new auto-save system arriving very soon will keep that from ever happening. Keep your eyes on http://en.blog.wordpress.com/ for the announcement.

You may be able to recover a post revision. Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/

If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options/ to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. http://en.support.wordpress.com/modules/#list-of-modules Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

If you cannot locate the post for locating and restoring a post revision, and it's not in your Trash folder http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/ then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

Did you create your post on the dashboard of your own blog?
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

Or did you create your post on the front page of WordPress.com?
http://wordpress.com/#!/post/

Advice:
Create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

Or use an offline blog editor so you always have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

I was continually working on the draft the entire time - I never put my computer into standby or hibernation.

I did realize that before it happened both times I pasted a GIF into the draft instead of going through the uploader. I had never done that before, just tried it on a whim and saw that it worked. it's possible that that is the point at which the drafts no longer saved and everything was wiped away. Is pasting an image instead of uploading an image known to cause problems?

I'm not certain that pasting the GIF was the cause, I just realized as I was thinking about it lasts night that it was possibly related.

I've had that happen to me before a few times (didn't learn from the first time). It seems to happen after I hibernate my computer, and then reawaken it. If I've had the post editor open, and then continue to work in it, and then press save, it comes up with "do you really want to do that?" or something similar. Then if you go back, everything is still gone. (A similar thing happens with Youtube videos after hibernation, you have to reload the page to continue watching).

I'm sure there's some technical reason behind it all, but I just know that to avoid this, just refresh the page, or better yet, close all wordpress tabs before hibernating, that way it won't be an issue. Of course, w you could use an offline-editor to write you posts, so you'll always have a copy on your own computer. See here for more information: http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

If this isn't relevant to what happened to you, sorry. But I know from experience that when that page comes up, I don't think there's a way to find it again. The revision wasn't saved, so it doesn't really exist. Sorry.

I had been working on a post, and had been regularly saving by clicking on the "save" button while in distraction-free mode. I left distraction-free mode, and then clicked "save draft", and my entire post, except for the title, disappeared. The draft remained, but all of the content was gone. I went back to look at my revisions. The most recent couple of revisions - 3 or 4 - were all blank as well. But before that the content had saved properly. I resumed working on the post from that earlier successful saved draft, but then it happened again several hours later, exactly the same.

I made a draft without any problems a little over a month ago.

I am using Firefox as my browser. After it happened for the first time, I disabled all of my add-ons and extensions, though I didn't have any related to WordPress. I deleted my cookies and cache. This didn't make any difference, since it happened again.

I'm not sure what to do or what's wrong.

The only time I've ever had a problem before was when I made a huge post several years ago with a ton of large GIFs and HQ images. The post I'm working on right now contains quite a few images but not nearly as many as that other post, and I'm still in the middle of it, not towards the end.

Please help!

I'm not very savvy, I don't have any WordPress plug-ins and I haven't messed around with anything except simple things like changing my header and arranging my widgets.

It doesn't happen with my own blog, so I'm wondering if I'm just having trouble finding it. I've looked under all posts, and drafts. Help!

I had written my blog - a long one - and was just starting to add a couple of photos at the bottom. It kept placing them at the top, so I was adjusting it. All of a sudden one of my images comes up in the web page, so I click back to return to my blog and it takes me to the home page.
Went onto drafts, as it autosaves every minute or so, and there are no drafts!
I'm unhappy as it took my ages to write and it's not going to be the same as when I first wrote it :o(
I looked around and a main problem is not having drafts ticked to show on screen, but it is ticked to do so....
Can anyone help?

There's an issue with creating posts on the front page of WordPress.com and editing posts that were created there that will not be fixed until the next upgrade. Do not create posts here > http://wordpress.com/#!/post/

Instead I recommend that you ONLY create posts here > Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

If you created that posts using the "Add New" on the main page for wordpress.com here http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ then what you describe can happen and worse still the draft posts may be lost and may not be recoverable.

If you created the post in your dashboard here > Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New then you may be able to recover an earlier post revision.

If you cannot locate the post for locating and restoring a post revision, and it's not in your Trash folder then you will not be able to recover it. http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash

Advice:
1. Create posts and pages ONLY on your own blog's dashboard.

2. When you start a new post, add the title, set it to private and then publish it. When you are done with the post edit it to update it and set it back to publish.

3. The other choice is to get and use an offline blog client such as Windows Live Writer (Windows) or Ecto (Mac) and then everything is saved on your computer and when you are done with the post, you actually publish it directly from the blog client software. See here for offline blog editors so you don't have to go through this again http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc

I made changes to a draft post on my PC, and saved the draft various times throughout. I then exited wordpress to go to WordPress app on my iPhone in order to add a photo to the draft post that I had saved on my phone. After adding the photo into the draft via the App, I went back to my PC but all the changes I had made this morning, was lost! In fact, it had reverted back to the draft version of more than 24 hours earlier. Can you please help me get back the the changes, that I know I saved, that I made this morning?

I have worked on a few posts lately but delayed posting because they needed to simmer in my head and I had some other work to do.

Anyway, I have since published two of them and the last two times I have published, the 'published on' option has been set to the time I first started the new draft. Hence the posts have not shown up in the topic feeds the instant I posted them because the published on time by default was 3 or 4 days ago.

For both of these posts I copied the text out, and recreated the post just so I could have it show up properly in the topics at the actual time of publishing.

Can you fix the publish time so that by default, it is published at the time that you press the button to publish, even if you save the draft.
