Hi Sixhours.

Cheers, the tip about the drop-down menu help. It was what I was looking for.

Is there some way of making the topmost menu-item (the parent) do nothing, like a blank link...

To create a categories menu I now added a link (to the home page) called it "categories" and I then added all my categories as submenu-items. However, the parent menu Item is a link. Can I make it something else? Just text? ..

Hi Eirik,

You should see a Categories panel on the Custom Menu screen.

If you don't see the Categories panel, you can click on the Screen Options tab in the upper right and there is a checkbox to enable the Categories panel.

If you want to create a drop-down menu, you need to create sub-menu items by following the instructions here.

I hope this helps!

Hello All,

I've been happy with my Manifest blog (with custom upgrade) for some time, but am running into a problem creating dropdown subpages under my menu 'tab' pages.

As it is right now, I have 6 'tab' pages in my menu, running left to right under my header. I want to add (2) subpages under the last of these pages (the "Engagement" tab). I've done this following the usual instructions of creating a two new pages (I've called them "Subpage" and "Subpage 2" for now), nesting it under "Engagement" in the Appearance--> Menus dashboard page, and clicking save.

It has made these subpages just fine, except that it displays them horizontally across the page, not as a dropdown menu, making it impossible to click if you are hovering over the main menu Engagement tab because they are so far to the left. If you are on already on the Engagement tab they remain visible even if you are not hovering so you can click on them then.

I believe this person had the same problem, and it was some kind of bug...is this correct?
http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/manifest-ie-menu-sub-menus-dropping?replies=12
However, this is happening for me in Chrome and Firefox, not just IE. Can anyone help with this?

Two questions:

1. How to I make my subpages appear vertically directly under the main menu tab page, like a standard drop-down menu, when hovering over that tab?

2. How do I make it so when you are on the Engagement page, the drop down menu options (Subpage and Subpage 2) are only visible when hovering over that tab?

Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance for your help!

Reposting this here as no response after three days in the Ideas forum...

When you have a WP post on screen and you quickly want its shortlink, you hover over the name of your blog in the topmost dark grey toolbar to reveal a dropdown menu. More than halfway down is the word SHORTLINK and beside it the relevant code. In order to select this code and copy it requires you to click on the code. However because the dropdown is transparent, and the particular position of this code is directly over the banner heading of your blog, you actually click straight through to the live banner. This immediately loads the home page and you've lost the chosen page you had just been viewing.

To effectively select the shortlink code, requires the most delicate of pressure *and timing* to catch it before the click activates the banner behind the dropdown! It's a fine art, but couldn't this tricky action be made 100% effective if the dropdown was not transparent?

No I didn't but I found the problem. I needed to open the "pages" widget and then "sort by" (dropdown menu) and then select "page order". Thanks.

Had you created a custom menu by chance? If so, typically when you switch themes, the custom menu will be deactivated and you have to go back to appearance > menu and choose it again in the theme location pulldown and click save.

Last night I tried a different theme for my blog but decided to go back to the one I was using. As a result, I had to reset a few things and re-add the widgets and htmls on the sidebar which is fine but the pages are now out of order in the blog view. The page numbering on the dashboard is correct but it won't appear in the right order in the blog view. Could someone please help me out. Thanks.
