How do I get help on Duet? I bought this theme and none of the features seem to work. I can't get a drop cap in my copy, can't switch type styles using <span styoe="font-size... Can't access the various type fonts the theme says are available. Is there a manual? A Duet forum?

I have already purchased the ability to customize and I found the forum for the Duet theme. Unfortunately the answer to my question is not there anywhere. I'm not sure how to contact the designers either. Please advise if you can. Again, appreciate the help.

Duet is a premium theme and when you purchase a premium theme you get support from the theme's designer in the premium themes support forum. Read-access to the premium themes forum is now open to all users so you can search to see if your question has been previously asked and answered there. The premium theme forums are at http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/ with separate sections for each theme. http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/duet

If you are not successful when searching there is a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum for your theme under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but do note that the premium theme must be active and you must be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it and post to it.

No changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header and Theme Options which are stated on the theme description pages for each theme will be visible to visitors unless you purchase an annually renewable custom design upgrade and do the required CSS editing.

Hi. I need help customizing share links for my blog. Currently I am not offering any share options because the default choices are ugly. I can't figure out how to fix this little pickle. I'm assuming there's something I need to do to the CSS?, but alas I am stumped.

Ideally I'd like it to look like http://www.jakandjil.com (bitchin hover bar), but that may be too fancy/tricky fer me to accomplish... Simple text would be fine too (example: http://www.purple-diary.com).

I'm using the Duet theme via wordpress.com. All comments are much appershiated. Thanks fer the help :)

Based on this and a few other threads, it sounds like you want to make some major structural changes to the Duet theme. I would recommend first checking in with the theme authors directly to see what you can find out there. Here is a direct link:

By default the front page of the blog displays all published posts. Some widgets have visibility options that can be used to designate which pages in the blog they display on. Click to open the widget and look for the visibility setting.

This will do it. I've used visibility: hidden; instead of display: none; so a bunch of additional margins and paddings do not have to be adjusted. This leaves the line where the date was.

Ok, then the site redirect will work. since it redirects post or page to post or page, the posts have to exist on the new site.

You can apply a new category (or categories) to all the imported posts and then you can put that category (or categories) into a custom menu and people can then get to the older posts that way.

You can use the site redirect upgrade to redirect drdanni.WordPress.com to thecountryphiles.com. Did you export all your posts/pages/etc., from drdanni and import them into thecountryphiles?

If you can answer this, it will give us a little bit better idea as to what to suggest.

Two further questions (sorry to hog the limelight):

1. I want to delete blog: drdanni.wordpress.com and have that deleted address point to my new blog: thecountryphiles.com (should anyone type the old address in or have an existing link to it). Is that possible? How?

2. I would like to archive my posts according to their category and for all posts in a particular category to show up on a page by the same name as the category. Is that possible? If so, how? Or is it only possible with a full functional website? Here's an example of great archiving by category: http://www.thedesignfiles.net Cheers.

Give this a try and see if this is what you want. Since this is a responsive width theme design, the bulk of element widths depend on the "max-width" set in the overall page/container/wrapper div. In this case, #container. Since your image on the main page is 600px right now, I resized the container so that it supports that as a maximum width. On the CSS edit page, in the publishing module, set the "content width" to 600px too. That will limit full-sized images to 600px. Add the following to the end of your custom CSS and see what you think.

#container {
max-width: 660px;
}

With the pagination option, the link to the rest of the content should appear as page numbers. It shouldn't make it so there is no link at all to the rest of the content. If that is happening, please post a link to an example where I can check it out.

It sounds like your goal is to add a "read more" link to an individual post or page, and there's not a built-in option to do that within WordPress itself (unless you count the pagination feature). However, perhaps you can do something else such as create a duplicate page or sub-page and then add a "read more" link manually to the first page and point that link to the new page.

The reason that I didn't include the div. text was the wordpress. They were marking with red color the "div." text and a message on the screen was saying the div. is overqualified and I thought it wouldn't work.

Ah, yes. That warning must be ignored in this case because of how CSS specificity works. I think the warning notes are great, but sometimes you do need to go against them to make things work with the other CSS that' gets loaded by WordPress.com themes.

The more tag doesn't change anything for a post by itself, only when the post is displayed in a list of posts. You currently don't have a "blog" or "posts" section setup to display a list of posts.

If you're not going to setup a blog on your site or use a "posts page," then you probably want to use pagination instead of a more tag. Try switching back to using a page and follow this instead:
