Hi.
I am having a problem with the showcase sidebar in Duster theme. The sidebar is appearing below the last post in the page, not in the beginning of the page as it should appear.

Yes--that's the solution in Twenty Twelve:

Edit the pages and delete their titles.
Go to Appearance>Menus and create a custom menu. Select your (now nameless) pages from the Pages module, click Add to Menu. Click the arrow at the right side of each page module to open it, type the title in the Navigation Label field. Click Save Menu, select the menu from the Theme Locations pulldown, click Save. http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/duster-theme-double-headers?replies=5#post-616357

For the Duster and Twenty Eleven themes:

The tab in the top nav menu doesn’t have to be the actual page title, so here’s what you can do:

How do I remove the word "home" from the home page? I want the menu item "Home" in the menu, but there's no need to have the word "Home" in the actual page. Is there a general answer, or do you need to see my specific blog? I don't have it set for public access yet.

That's very odd. Please be sure the images are the correct size 1000 x 288 and try setting a featured image again. If that doesn't work for you please post again and tell us exactly what happened.

I've been using the 'duster theme' and have a custom header. In the past I've been able to change that photo to a different 'featured image' and it shows as a 'featured image' on the right side of the 'edit page' but it's not cooperating tonight. Please help!

Hi, I've been trying to change the header either on my current theme (Misty Look), or on a new theme (Duster) - whichever works, wins.

On the Misty Look Theme, the photo is rectangular shape, across the entire page. (760x329) I'd like to have the photo square, and not the entire page width.Switching to Duster, I can get the photo in square shape, but it's huge. I've resized the pixel ratio to 180x135. The photo still shows up huge, and the resolution is really bad.

The website I'm talking about is http://www.cancerwhattodoorsay.com (it doesn't show up as a choice when I go to the drop down selection - so I head to chose the blog I'm not have problems with.)

...I'm still working on Avatar/Gravatar/Blavatar issues. I've emptied cache many times, and read all the related hints I can find. My Gravatar for http://www.spiritandmoneymatters.wordpress.com still shows up as my http://www.cancerwhattodoorsay.wordpress.com Gravatar. (The description is correct for site; the photo isn't.)

You can go to the Theme Showcase and use the features filters on the searchbox to locate themes that interest you. Each one also has a live demo site link.

I need a theme that shows my images/buttons/icons, etc... *widgets* when viewing a single post NOT just my home page. When someone clicks on a link to a single post I tweet they're taken directly to the post (which makes sense) but none of my sidebar widgets appear when viewing a post by itself. My sidebar widgets only appear when on the Home page.
The theme I use now is Duster. I need a theme that shows my widgets all the time! That's kinda the point of a sidebar, right???

Yes. FWIW Staff have advised that this is the first iteration of the Carousel feature. We cannot edit the functionality or disable it.

As Tess already explained, this is not theme dependent. A gallery (and the new gallery carousel) is inserted in a post or a page: it's not part of a theme, and it looks the same no matter what the theme. WP changed the gallery feature, not the themes.

I can see that the carousel idea works well for most people but I don't want the black background or the carousel. I chose the duster theme because I liked the way it was. Is there no way that I can revert to the original theme ? It would be sad to have to use another web host as I have got used to wordpress. Thank you for your help.

I use(d) duster theme for my website and recently, it has been automatically updated to Twenty Eleven recently and this resulted in the gallery pages opening a kind of a slide show when the thumbnail is clicked with darkened background.

I would like the back ground colour to be white or none. Is this possible?

@timethief: thanks for the quick help. I was able to restore the blog to the Duster theme. I think the issues I was experiencing were connected to the picture size issue, and I thought I had problems because I was using an "old" theme. I really appreciate your help!

@panaghiodisadam: I actually used a pre-cropped image to use in the feature post and it worked when I put it up around a week ago. But WP seems to have changed some settings/features, so all of a sudden the pics where out of whack. I now circumvented the issue by using a different pic size in the excerpt and it looks now ok, as it did before.

This is the way I want it to look, so I hope they don't change stuff around again.

Thanks for your input, too, but in Twenty Eleven the Featured Post seems limited in height...

2011 is just an improved version of Duster: there's nothing you could do in Duster and cannot do in 2011. See here:

Crap, crap, why did they have to substitue Twenty Eleven for Duster? It feels like they have replaced something good by something really crappy. All the features I especially liked in Duster have gone. I liked having a featured post with a full size image. Now my image is only displayed in small size and the space for the featured post is cut off. I hate it, hate it, hate it. Unfortunately I didn't download Duster to my own PC and now there is no way of retrieving it, but I just never imagined they would kick out such a cool Theme. Shame on them
