Hi auxclass,

Thanks for that. I tried the instructions. A friend had already put some info in that wasn't redirecting. I left that in and added

mail.sonnysgardening.com.au as A record to 27.124.119.225
and your MX record simply to mail.sonnysgardening.com.au

into the mix. Except MX required a number of some sort so I just put 10. I'm really lost and frustrated.

The fact that I have paid for a domain name and have paid WordPress for something, not much, I would expect a little more assistance. Still I'm learning lots as I blunder around.

Just thankful I never changed our advertising to reflect [email redacted] just sticking with the gmail for now.

Lol. thanks again

google apps email setup

I have a blog ( http://www.whatsupyasieve.com ) registered through wordpress.com (Automattic) that was recently switched over to a GoDaddy hosted wordpress.org installation. The email for @whatsupyasieve.com is handled through Google Apps.

The DNS records were pointed to GoDaddy nameservers through wordpress.com which in turn updated the MX records to 0	SMTP.SECURESERVER.NET. and 10 MAILSTORE1.SECURESERVER.NET.

The MX records need to be changed back to Google's but cannot seem to access them anywhere. WordPress.com "Add Email" is not working, and the Automattic DNS settings page cannot access the zone file.

Please flag this for support as it seems like a relatively simple problem that could be easily addressed.

alexanderwalsh,

There are steps (and helpful screenshots) at the link below on adding/editing your MX records:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/

The basic steps are:
- Go to Upgrades > Domains from your blog's Dashboard
- Click the 'Edit DNS' link next to your domain name
- In the text form on the page that comes up, enter the MX records

If you are getting your email through Godaddy, the records to enter are:

MX 0 smtp.secureserver.net.
MX 10 mailstore1.secureserver.net.

(Notice there are periods at the end - please include those.)

@Opporclothing

Support was correct, if your nameservers are pointing towards another 3rd party provider such as WordPress.com then they have control of your DNS. You will need to update the MX Records through them. Alternatively you can point the DNS back to Go Daddy and just point the A Record IP to your hosting provider. That will give us DNS control as well as still direct your domain to your host. However TimeThief has provided you with what seems as the correct article if you were to leave your DNS as it is configured now: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/ Thanks for choosing Go Daddy.! ^Colby GoDaddy.com Social Media Team
