The exact same thing is happening to me as of last night. It's strange because the images in my sidebar are all there. The images in all my posts are gone. Even in new posts I I go through the same motions but the image will not show. I get the same "404-file not found" message. I've tried the clearing browser's cache/force refreshing, backup and recover on my system and nothing has worked. I've emailed the issue to tech support a couple of times and have heard nothing as of today.

I purchased a theme from www.themeforest.net. When I tried to upload the .zip file in my wordpress admin, after chewing on it for a good while, it gives me a very strange error code.

Warning: file(/home/nickypoo/public_html/wp-content/themes/themeforest_the-slingshot-wordpress-template_43550/style.css) [function.file]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/nickypoo/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 180

Warning: implode() [function.implode]: Invalid arguments passed in /home/nickypoo/public_html/wp-includes/theme.php on line 180

That code comes up right after it states that the theme uploaded successfully. When I go to my themes page, it's not shown. When I go to my cpanel and check out the files, it's there just like it should be, from what I can see.

The theme I purchased has been sold a few hundred times, so I doubt it has anything to do with the theme. Also, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to any sort of code. I'm completely lost, so any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

This is really frustrating every time I try to do anything (edit/create pages, new posts, update appearance) I get an error message that reads like this.... What is the fix, if any?
------
Oops! Sorry an error has occurred. Please click here to contact us so that we can fix it.
Please remember that you have to provide the full, complete Blog URL, otherwise we can not fix it
-----
The url is: livingwaterschurch.wordpress.com. I am using Mac OS 10.6.2 and I have tried both Safari and Firefox and neither works. Does anyone know what to do? Thanks.

Tonight during a planned non-disruptive maintenance window by our hosting partner in our Dallas datacenter, we experienced a widespread network outage affecting about 400 hosts. This outage would have caused slowness and possibly errors when loading WordPress.com blogs this evening. It lasted for approximately 45 minutes. Everything should be back to normal now and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We will continue to explore the root cause of the outage as well as possible solutions with our hosting parter.

Okay so my plan is to set up my blog for a class I'm taking at the University of Windsor. My goal is to have Google Alerts post automatically to my blog. I'm not sure how to do this, I set up a google account and set up two different alerts. I set the alerts to be delivered through email, but nothing has showed up. When I click on the email I set up to recieve the alerts (under the manage blogs section) I get an error message reading "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed"

I keep getting this error message when trying to setup my site. I'm not using a wordpress.com site, but have my own site name. I've uploaded the wordpress pkg. to my ftp, connection was established and everything. I then changed the wp-config.php to have my db name, db password, and db address.
When I try to launch the site mysite.com/wp-admin I get the "error" message. triple checked the info on database to make sure it's correct, but still get the error.

once I setup my database, I uploaded the wordpress download to my ftp client (using cyberduck). I then changed the wp-config.php file's name and DB info according to instruction.

Any thoughts or tips?
I'm a total noob and this is my first time setting up a site by myself.

Thanks,

If you open any post or page on your blog in the editor that has an image, you will see HTML code something like this:

<img src="http://somewhere.com/image.jpg">

That code tells the browser where to find the image so that it can display it in the post or page. If you upload an image to your media library and insert it into a post or page, and then delete that image from the media library, then the browser can no longer retrieve the image to display it. The image does not exist at that location anymore.

Images are NOT embeded in posts or pages. They are linked to from the post to the original in the media library. The browser sees the image code in the post or page and then retrieves the image and displays it where the code is within the post or page.

That is the way the web works. Any image, on any page, anywhere on the web, anywhere in the world, has to be exist somewhere on the web or it cannot be displayed.
