Hi,

I need to highlight dates of upcoming events and show them on the main/home page (and also not in the right column). The next upcoming event should show above upcoming events further in the future (that is, in order).

Instead, as most free themes seem to be meant for blogs, I see that the dates that are (sometimes boldly) highlighted are the dates of when new posts were created.

Perhaps there are multiple ways of doing that... Or at least to be able to decide which post to put where (that is, in which order). Perhaps there is a theme meant for small non-profits that features upcoming events...

I would very much appreciate any help. Thank you for reading so far.

Hi WP administrators.

While we are waiting for WordPress.com to "develop an event calendar" please take a look at the WP theme Soundcheck which includes an 'Upcomming Gigs'
(see theme.wordpress.com/themes/soundcheck/).

Is this something you can benefit from?
Have anyone any experience about / how this theme deal with/organize events?
I am considering using this...

Regarding all discussions about widgets, plugins and 3.party SW: you can not include this in your wordpress.com -blog. You have to host your own wordpress site (e.g. http://www.godaddy.com/hosting/wordpress-hosting) to benefit from custom plugins.

Hi WP.
I can see there are a lot of requests for a WP integrated event calendar. This is something I and lot of WP administrators would benefit from, so I have a suggestion on how to implement this functionality in an easy way:

Why not introduce a new field in Page Attributes called: Publish event on [event date]. Then all the postings with this attribute set could be cross published the Calendar widget both on [published date] and [event date].

If the 'Create Calender' widget also gets 2 check boxes: Show only pages when [Published] and/or [Date of Event], this would become a tremendous improvement of WP.

Thanks.

Hi, thanks for the reply but no, event brute is not useful to me. A main part of my blog is listing events, conferences etc. I want a calendar/schedule/listing that works like google calendar but which is (a lot) more user friendly, mobile compatible and attractive. There is no e-commerce element needed, and it will make up my static front page. Thanks for the suggestion though.
