All the links will be broken and produce a 404 (page not found) when clicked.

The URLs will revert to .wordpress.com URLs. All authority and pagerank the blog earned under the domain URL will be gone and it will take about 3 months or so for search engines to index the content again under the .wordpress.com URLs.

Is there a way to cancel the domain without losing the content? I don't mind losing the domain URL itself.

Depending on the domain, sometimes "squatters" will wait for the domain to become available, and register it as soon as they can to put ads on it.

However, if you don't want to pay the $106 to retrieve the domain, this is your only option.

As an advertising agency we do pro-bono work and at the time that this blog was created it was done by a web designer that no longer works for Ad Essentials and she didn't keep very good notes on the admin of the 2 very separate blogs. Recently I gave one of the blog sites back to the organization that I created it for (Dutchess Divas) and unbeknownst to me the 2 blogs (npschoolfoundation.org) were still connected and the Dutchess Divas new admin was getting notices that the npschoolfoundation.org domain name was expiring. On Tuesday we asked if he had gotten any renewal notices and he said he had but it had nothing to do with the Dutchess Divas so he ignored the notices. This has all been a mistake and misunderstanding and I am hoping that you will waive the $80 fee for the expired domain, as we have really do appreciate the WordPress services and fully intend to renew the domain that has expired. FYI, I do realize that a user opens a WP Blog and not a company. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to your reply.

We never got an email telling us that the domain was about to expire. Also, a whois look-up of our domain shows the expiration date as: Expiration Date:06-Apr-2014

How can the late fee be $80.00 if we never got a notice?

How can we renew if there is no "Renew" button on the page?

Please let us know how to proceed.
