After going through the forum I see that another has had that issue also due to their site being too big. Is it possible to send me the export file as soon as possible? I have someone that is doing this for me so if the export file can be sent to them I can give you their email or you can send it to me and I will forward it to them.

I got the pages & posts (yippeee!) but it didn't move my theme...

@nnadine — You're welcome! The export file, as you found out, won't include the theme and settings, and you'll need to manually copy your widget settings. I'd suggest opening your WordPress.com blog Appearance -> Widgets page in one browser tab while your self-hosted blog has the same dashboard page open.

Yes. You can import the XML export file you created in a WordPress blog into a WordPress.com blog or into a WordPress.org install.

The images are attachments. When you import you rceive a query as to whether you wish to include attachments or not.

In the Tools -> Export screen of your WordPress.com blog, select Posts and choose a date range of a few months at a time. I've annotated a screenshot here:

So, export the posts from:

  • April 2012 – July 2012
  • December 2012 – March 2012
  • July 2011 – November 2011

Then, export Pages in another file, and try importing each one at a time at blog.reclaimylife.com
