do you really have to lecture people as often as you do about searching first?

You must be kidding. I did a search on exactly how often I have posted that over the course of 7 years and I rarely post it. I'm sorry that you weren't able to locate Facebook thumbnails by searching. Please try what I posted above as the debugger does work for some.

Unfortunately, we have no control over the images that Facebook chooses to display or when they choose to flush their image caches. Ironically the images from older blog posts are still able to be "pulled" into FB.

Is there any sort of meta data or something that would prevent a thumbnail from being "pulled" into a FB share?

I went into my site and actully hit share on the Facebook button tonight and it appears to have shared from that but without the usual thumbnail

Also, after hit publicize, I usually see how many followers and Facebook people the post was shared with and that is not happening either. Did something change? How should I correct?

As @timethief mentioned, if you experience issues with some of your posts, it might be worth entering the post URL in the Facebook Debugger. It will clear Facebook's cache for that page, and force Facebook to crawl the page once again to look for a title, a description, and images.

We have no control over which images Facebook chooses to display and we have no control over how long it takes for the image caches at Facebook to be flushed. Facebook makes changes frequently and every time they do we get these kind of questions. This may or may not help.
