The issue is that you have unnecessary style rule in your custom css. You need to remove the following rule.

.grid .featured-image img { height:110px; margin:0 0 20px; width:155px; }

I also see other style rules that are not necessary and they could interferes how the theme displays correctly . I'd recommend to clean up your custom CSS.

If your featured images are not the exact dimensions required by the theme then that's why you are seeing what you see now. The featured image works best with images at least 350 by 248 (width, height).

My blog is set to have two posts featured on the main page - with bigger pictures than the rest of the previous posts. However, over the past few days, these featured images have suddenly gotten really small for some reason. Anybody know what the deal is and how I can fix it?

I do not have the CSS upgrade, but it does allow me to preview it so it's just something else I am considering.

Thank you for your quick response.

In my case, #1 is not an option. #2 is not ideal, but something I will consider.

I was able to hide the links using the CSS editor so that is something else I may consider (whether it is worth the CSS Upgrade).

The Global Tag Listings at WordPress.com aggregate all published posts attached to any particular tag or category, and display our most popular topics. http://en.support.wordpress.com/global-tags/

You can:
(1) Set blog visibility to private. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

(2) Use the iNove theme which is the only one that has options you can use to prevent display of categories and tags. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/inove/

Under each post, there is a link titled "Posted in" category. When you click on the category it navigates to an area showing other "featured" blogs that use this same category.

Is there a way to either:
1) modify the link such that it doesn't navigate away from my site?
or 2) remove the link entirely?

I'm using the Rusty Grunge theme.

You assigned that tag to the post. Your blog is the featured blog under that tag on the wordpress.com tagging page and it's also the only post with that tag.

I noticed in my blog stats that I have been getting traffic from here:

What does that mean? How are people finding that link and reaching my page?

When I click on

the resulting page says in small letters on the upper left side "Featured Blog". What does that mean?

This is the link to the Blogs of the Day site http://botd.wordpress.com Check out the categories there and come to your own conclusions. I don't know all the factors that go into the algorithm but I'm betting the number of page views a blog gets is one of them.

I think I've got to the bottom of this. I was under the impression that featured blogs focussed on most-used tags, but it also seems to work on categories. As well as being the name of my blog "expletive undeleted" is also the name of one of two categories within it. The post that was missing from the featured blog list was is in the other category.

Does that makes sense?

Try this, open that post in the editor, make one change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then hit the update post button. Wait for perhaps a half-hour and check the tags page again.

Just checked the tags on the 'missing' post and there's nothing like that - and no content like that in the post itself either. It's a strange one.

Posts get left off the global tag lists if you use the tags or categories "Porn" or "Sex" is something staff said a couple of years ago. I used them (jokingly) on a post yesterday and that post is not on the global tag pages.

Staff, as far as I know mark "blogs" as mature. I don't think they mark posts as mature. It's all or nothing. If marked as mature, ALL your post would instantly disappear from the tags pages.

You will have to contact staff directly and give them links to the posts which seem to be missing.

Hello. My blog got featured (http://en.wordpress.com/tag/expletive-undeleted/) recently and I noticed at least one post was missing from the list.

I'm guessing it's been marked as mature as this particular post features the kind of stuff that would get it marked as mature, if you see what I mean. I don't necessarily have an argument with the decision (if that's the case), but is there any way of finding out for sure without contacting wp support?

Other posts show up, so I guess the whole blog hasn't been marked as mature, but without rocking the boat too much, I'd like to know what goes on.

You would have to tag your posts on movies with a tag "movies". The posts appear in reverse chronological order (newest at top) and on popular tags that people use a lot, your post can disappear from the first page within a few seconds of publishing it.

As far as the featured blog spot at the top, that is something no one can control. It is somehow decided in the back end and no one knows exactly how that decision is made, but it is probably done within the software.

@buy, If you go to any of the wordpress global tags pages, the "featured blog" is the one at the top of the list.

@lifemagician, if you find something like that, while on the blog, click the "blog info" link in your grey admin bar and then click "report as mature" so that staff can have a look and then mark the blog as mature where it will not show up in the tags pages.

Well if the staff have a formula, they may like to think of making some adjustments. I was absolutely disgusted with the featured blog I opened the other day. Nothing short of hard porn!

Not the sort of thing I would want my grandchildren to chance upon.
