I've been creating all headers at 1000x288 pixels, as recommended for this theme. And the others have all worked. But I'm glad you reminded me, justpi, because I went back and checked the dimensions, and sure enough, when I edited the image, I ended up with some other screwball pixel dimension. Re-edited to 1000x288, problem solved.

The featured image needs to be in the pixel dimensions the theme requires for header images. See Appearance > Header.

Unless I happened to look in while you were editing your site, I see the same image on your site's front page on the majority of your other pages.

For a featured header (parent pages only) you need to designate a featured image in the Featured Image module in the Page/Post Editor. If you don't see that module, make sure it is checked in the Screen Options tab in the upper right corner of the Page/Post Editor screen.

I'm using the Twenty Eleven theme. I'm using featured headers on other pages with no problem. But when I create one for the About page, even though it shows up at the Edit screen, when I view the page, I get the main header image. What gives?

Hi Michael,

It's kinda what I'm looking for. Do I understand it correctly that I cannot change the layout (full-width header, menu under the header) with the CSS? Cause I'd rather have the a full width-header, the menu under the header and a few other things changed.

It's good to know the combination of the two is possible, though. I can only make a theme of my own (html and such) on a private site, right? Or is there a way I can have the adjustments I'd like to have?

Very interesting question! We do not have very many themes that support both of these features. I only found one free theme: http://asceticademo.wordpress.com/ Hope this works for you :)

Hi,

I was wondering if there's a theme that has both of the following options built-in:
1. Featured Image header: Like the Adventure theme
2. Sticky posts slider with featured image (like Sight and Fresh & Clean)

Or is this something I can create with only CSS? and one of the three themes?

Ho many headers do you see on this page? > Appearance > Headers
Have you ckeckmarked this?

Think I fixed it. Looks like if you include a "featured image" (which I did), it puts it into the header space automatically? When I removed featured image it change the header to the one I wanted. Correct? Thanks, newbie Tina

Thanks. Didn't realize the two were different (newby - sorry!). So how do I change the header on the existing post? When I posted it I didn't put a header on it and when I DID put a header in later it came up with the wrong photo and now I cant figure out how to change it. THANKS
