I'm new to this so, I’ve followed all the online guides and support articles and Googled for answers but I’m still stuck trying to get featured images appearing on posts.

So far I've made about 10 post and the featured image is only appearing on one.

The blog is apprenticesmeanbusiness.com and I’m using the Superhero Theme

This one works
http://apprenticesmeanbusiness.com/2013/04/25/joe-manning/ and displays this image http://apprenticesmeanbusinessdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/joe-manning.jpg

And these (and others) don’t
http://apprenticesmeanbusiness.com/2013/04/25/lauren-hood/ with this image
http://apprenticesmeanbusinessdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/lauren-hood.jpg

http://apprenticesmeanbusiness.com/2013/04/25/susanna-perkins/ with this image
http://apprenticesmeanbusinessdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/susanna-perkins.jpg

As far as I can see all the settings are the same on both posts and both images. I can see that the Lauren-hood is a lower resolution that the joe-manning one but I can’t see that being the problem.

I’ve tried adjusting the ‘format’ option and that doesn’t make any difference.

Can someone guide me in the right direction

Thanks is advance

Jeremy

Howdy! Images will not appear on the home page in the post content area when using Structure, as it displays only the post excerpt.

To add an image to the post excerpt manually, you can do so using HTML and crafting an excerpt in the Excerpt field. The HTML to add an image looks like this, replacing the SRC part with the URL to your image file:

<img src="http://yamyameventproduction.wordpress.com/path/to/my-image.jpg">

However, this may not produce the best results, as images are typically not meant to appear in excerpts. In this case, it may be easier to switch to a theme that displays full post content on the home page.

I hope this clarifies!

The picture IS showing up as a featured theme, but I also inserted it to be in the post itself and there it does NOT show up when I'm on the main site. If you click on yamyameventproduction.wordpress.com, you see the picture (dining table) as a featured image which is great, but if you scroll down to the blogpost NOMA you can only see the title and the text but not the picture. That's my problem.

I run a photoblog and was really impressed by this theme. I wanted to install it but a little (big) detail prevents me from doing so: The width of the posts is just not enough for me, because of the sidebar. The theme as an interesting option for pages that disables the sidebar, making it larger. Wouldn´t it be possible to make the same option available to the posts and have a footer option to replace de sidebar?
That would be decisive to me.

I really like the Theme Visual, nearly what I missed, incl. font and its size. So I installed it.

Just, perhaps something needs to be fixed; or some remarks:

- In the menu are shown unwanted rectangles instead of arrows. Similarly, icons for "Image" (refferring to a post-format) and "Leave a comment".

- Just a wish, would welcome 3-column footer area for widgets. Maybe it would be good to show some info already on the front page (where sidebar is in fact hidden).

- Cosmetic thing, there are several letters of my (Czech) language, which unfortunatelly the used font does not include, so different font is used for these letters.

- I am not sure how this theme works with excerpts and manual excerpts; and with the featured images:

I use "insert more tag" and it works well. On the other side, it seems the theme does not consider if there is an excerpt written in the separate window for editing a post.

I had defined featured images and the same picture used in the beginning of the posts. Unfortunatelly, such picture was than shown twice in the summary of the posts. So I had to delete the featured images.

Hi,

I'm having a problem with the picture in my blogpost. When I click on the blogpost the picture is there, and it's also showing up as a featured image as I want it to, but when I look at the main site there's only the title of the post and the text, without the picture that's also in the post. How do I change that? I want the picture to be seen when looking at the post on the main site too.

You're welcome.
a) I can't see because your blog is set to private.
b) To explain my "isn't really possible": The dimensions of featured images are set in PHP, not CSS, so you cannot change them. You can use CSS editing to make the images show full-width, but they won't be real larger versions, they will be the default ones blown-up, which means terrible quality.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I read the recommended information and implemented per the instructions. However, even after assigning tags to my two "poetry" posts and setting the field in settings/reading/featured content/tag = Poetry, the poetry posts' featured images do not show up in a slider on the homepage.

After reading some other's questions regarding similar issues, I'm wondering if the Widely theme requires that the homepage be set to Your Latest Post rather than Static (static is how it's currently set). Is this perhaps where I have gone wrong?

You are confusing "cusom image headers" and featured posts with featured images in a post slider. Please go back to the theme description page and http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/widely/

Featured Images
Widely supports Featured Images, which, if set, will appear above your content on the blog index and single view, bold and beautiful.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image

Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels):

The main column width is 800.
The featured image is 800 by 330 (width, height).
Images in the featured content slider are 960 by 490 (width, height).
Custom header images are 960 in width and flexible in height.

Custom Header
Widely supports a flexible-height custom header image, which can be configured under Appearance -> Header.

I am currently using the Widely theme by Themes Kingdom. The live demo of Widely shows the header photo automatically changing on a rotational basis (along with buttons to manual advance and reverse). When I activated this theme, I assumed that this function would be available to me. However, I have been unable to implement it. According to the live demo, it is an included feature. Please explain what steps need to be taken to activate it.

Thank you,
