I re-exported some of the images (7 in total) from Lightroom (version: 4.1) and re-uploaded the newly exported images to a new post (wanted to keep the other post to compare).

Hi Vincent,

It appears that at least one of the image files you sent has "exe" in its binary code, which is tripping a security alert on our end that prevents the original files in that post from being displayed. (This is a rare occurrence, and I apologize for the inconvenience.)

Can you try re–exporting the images from Lightroom, remove the images from the current gallery for that post, reupload the newly–exported images to that post, and insert the updated image gallery?

Please let me know how that works for you as I'd like to know if this is an isolated incident.

I do find this curious because I'm also a Lightroom user and haven't come across this yet on my blog. I'm still using Lightroom 3.6, but I hope to upgrade to 4.1 really soon.

I'm sorry for my misunderstanding. After clicking the "View full size" link in the image carousel for the first two problematic images, I can see exactly what you're referring to.

I'll take a closer look at this and will be in touch with updates.

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.

I'm using the exact same version of Google Chrome as you (21.0.1180.82). I cleared my cache but that doesn't make any difference.

I tried it on Safari and Firefox and there also I'm having the same issue:
- 1st image: not showing in 'view full size' (in carousel showing ok)
- 2nd image: also not showing in 'view full size' (in carousel showing ok)
- 3rd image: showing ok in 'view full size'

I'm almost sure it has nothing to do with the type of browser but more with the actual image file and/or the size of the file.

According to Firefox the first and second images can't be displayed because it contains errors. Image details:
- 1st image: JPEG Image; 0.04 KB (37 bytes); 0px × 0px (scaled to 1440px × 787px)
- 2nd image: JPEG Image; 0.04 KB (37 bytes); 0px × 0px (scaled to 1440px × 754px)
- 3rd image: JPEG Image; 1155.86 KB (1183600 bytes); 2499px × 1944px (scaled to 1011px × 787px)

It looks like it has something to do with the dimensions and scaling of the images. Do you know if there is any limitation in size in order to properly view it in full size (button right under image in carousel)?

- 1st image: View full size 4320×3240
- 2nd image: View full size 2500×1875
- 3rd image: View full size 2499×1944

I used Lightroom to enhance those pictures. Maybe there's something wrong with my settings when I exported the pictures to WP or maybe something went wrong with the rescaling in the media gallery of WP itself?

I'm pretty lost at the moment... :-)

I viewed the first three images in your gallery with the image carousel and they all load perfectly from my end using Google Chrome 21.0.1180.82.

What browser and version are you using?

Can you try clearing your browser cache, along with an alternate browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (to narrow down a browser issue)?

oh darn and here I thought I was being helpful. It is useful as an alternative way to find out the attachment id #

that is something else that I think would be nice for them to put in the media library page next to each thumbnail, maybe right under the title. I guess I should send that in as a suggestion.

I just right clicked on some images and no matter what I try, the file size that is shown is for a thumbnail not the actual image - for pictures WP makes several size files for the same image (thumbnail, a bit bigger and finally full size) - I could not get the actual size of the picture without displaying it in a post and clicking through to the final displayed version - downloading a file would give the correct size but that is a lot of work -

Would be nice if WordPress did show file sizes.

I do not know if this will work for videos, and I only know that it works in Firefox, not sure about other browsers but if you right click on the particular item in the media library and then click on properties, it should give you the information about the file size.

I think they are looking for the file size of the individual files - not sure that WP does a good job on that - not sure that a Directory listing could be done to see file sizes.

We are starting to run out of space on our Blog and I am trying to clean out stuff. Since we use a lot of video on our blog I thought a good idea is just to re-upload videos at a smaller resolution so that the file size would be less and therefore give us back some space.
The problem is, I cannot find a way to see what the file size is on the videos we've uploaded (and are in the Media Library). I know it tells you the file size when you add a new file to the library but that info is not available once the file is done being uploaded.
Unfortunately, I did a poor job of staying organized when creating the site so I cannot find the original files to look for file size info there.
I know I can buy more space, but I think I can avoid that if I just do a better job of media management and knowing the file sizes of uploaded media is key to that.

I just tried importing, but it's saying the filesize is too big for my php.ini - apparently the default upload is 2MB. Now I need to figure out how to change the setting (*boggles*)

Good question. Unfortunately, I'm not sure. I think it's by date, but I would not think a 3mb file would be too big to import. Try it a few times, because sometimes it goes through okay. Sorry I can't be more help; I've never done an import myself, only seen answers in the forum and that is an answer I cannot seem to find for you.

Make sure you've deleted all your spam, and consider breaking it up into chunks. Several people have found it necessary to do that.

I am moving my wordpress.com blog to a wordpress.org blog on my own domain. I went to export my old files and import them into my new site, but it's saying that the import file is too large. How do I remedy this, as I don't want to lose any posts!
