I would like to embed a Shutterfly slideshow into one of my posts, and I understand that Shutterfly, which uses Flash, is not automatically compatible with WordPress.com. I've seen several forum threads pointing to using gigya, including a post on how to do so. I've tried it already, and I'm not having any success. Admittedly, I'm quite the amateur when it comes to html (that's quite the understatement...), so maybe I'm just not getting it. Anyone want to break this down so that a simpleton like myself can understand?

Thanks!

Hope this works for you. At least for me it did the trick.

@justpi:

Now I see the problem. As you can see from melkro's posting above, Tripline embeds the whole flash part into it's own object, which is actually not needed. In the surrounding "" code they are using the definition "<param name="flashVars" ...". Within the actual "" code section they are using "flashVars=...". I mixed that up a little bit.

No it's not correct: it has more mistakes than your first atempt. I don't see why you're trying to change and rearrange things when you're not familiar with this kind of thing. You just copy the part I showed and change its beginning and its end the way I showed - no other changes. You just copy this:

then turn the initial

<embed

to

[gigya

and the final

>

to

]

That's all it takes. No other changes.

thanks for your reply. I converted the statement to:

The tripline error message about missing parameters is gone now but unfortunately the embedded flash window stays black and doesn't show anything.

Hello,

I am working on the same issue. I found the following on the Tripline Website. They say, that embedding the tripline map in a wordpress.com Blog doesn't work and you have to use the thumbnail version instead, which is very inconvenient.

I tried to convert the embed code according to http://wpbtips.wordpress.com. The code looks like as follows:

[gigya src="http://www.tripline.net/api/tripviewer.swf" width="512" height="288" allowFullScreen="true" AllowScriptAccess="always" bgcolor="#111111" tripId="0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0" tripDataUrl="http://www.tripline.net/api/v1/kml/0447255406521006A47DE31F84F378A0 version=".2" mapsApiKey="ABQIAAAAA9rk3PBVYmwBFaK8U6L2BBSGk6n9_7P4Hc_MSCrbXGvqZu06axRNzkfL-lfkb7tx0GF_c1LVYHgGQg" onSite="0"]

The original code provided by tripline looks as follows:

However, this loads the flash object but this one itself complains about "Missing configuration parameters". So something might have gone wrong during the conversion process to the "gigya" markup.

But I was able to embed a map of stepmap.com and that worked pretty well. Is Tripline different?

IFrames are a huge security issue, though. Because of the way the blogs here are constructed, you're always exposed to the greatest security risk deemed acceptable by the dumbest person on your theme. That's why security has to be so locked down.

That's sort of what I expected. It's kind of a frustrating shortfall on WordPress' part considering how common iframes are becoming, but than again, the platform is free... :P

Thank you for the help. At least I've got a partial workaround with the gigya stuff.

Thanks again,

There is NOTHING here that supports an iframe except the Tagul workaround, which is torturous and doesn't work well. http://shongjog.wordpress.com/2011/01/25/how-to-embed-iframe-widgets-in-a-wordpress-com-blog-%C2%A9-netty-gritty/ You're on your own with that.

Does gigya support iframe as well? I didn't see an example of iframe code being altered in the list of examples, so I figured I should ask as direct experimentation on my website yielded poor results.
