I'm a newbie at this and am having trouble with adding my own widget to my blog page. How and where do I enter the widget code so the image shows up. Once clicked on, it's supposed to direct viewers to another site. This just seems too technical for me..help!

Set the width to 170 (that's the right width for the sidebar of the theme you're using), set the height to whatever you prefer, select the color you prefer, click Gt Widget, copy the flash code, paste it here between backticks (see below reply field) so we can tell you how to convert it into a working shortcode.

Greetings all! I'm wondering if anybody knows of a widget that tracks/displays MOON PHASES? My poetry ezine is published according to the lunar cycle and I'd love to have a moon phase calendar in the sidebar for oohs and aahs.

If you can locate a Flash widget then following the instruction in the post kellwypa linked to will result in translating the code into a gigya shortcode that can be used on your blog. :)

Here is a link to an article by Panos on how to convert some of the code so you can use it in text widgets. He has a list of some of the widget sites so you should be able to find what you are looking for. I Googled US debt clock widget and one of the ones that came up (Widgetbox) is listed in his article.

I am looking for the same thing... I am looking to create a counter/ticker that will increase by a unit of 0.12 per second... Ultimately that should be 3.8M in 365 days...

Please post an active link starting with http:// to the blog in question so we can help you. If you are referring to a free blog from and being free hosted by WordPress.COM then there is no way you can install a dynamic widget of any kinds into the header of your free hosted blog. Widgets can ONLY be placed in sidebars on free hosted blogs and there are some restricted codes. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
Once you post the URL for the blog in question, if it is a free hosted WordPress.COM blog we may be able to provide a workaround to achieve what you want, but not in the header.

If you are referring to a self-hosted WordPress.ORG install then you are posting to the wrong support forum and ought to be posting to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org: The Differences > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

I'm looking for a counter widget similar to the "national debt counter" widgets you see that show how much debt accrues every second.

The catch is I want to track "profit" not "debt. For instance, Corporation XYZ made a billion dollars in profit last year. I'm looking for a counter where I can show how much they are earning each second, as well as the running total for the fiscal year.

Ultimately, I'd like to be able to show something like, "In the time you have been reading this blog, Corporation XYZ has earned $3,256,343 dollars..."

I'm not looking for a hit or visitor counter, I just want a generic counter where I can set the dates and amounts and let it run in a blog page, (though if it could be made part of the Header that would be very cool...)

Any thoughts?

I've gotten it to work with the gigya shortcode I mentioned after tweaking things a little and playing around with it. Give this a try. Paste it into the HTML tab in your page or post, or into a text widget.

I should have left a message but failed to do it yesterday; but it looks like I found my reason. I've looked in a different post about WordPress widgets and it looks like I can't add in the calendar because anything with flash content will not work here.

Hello. I've been wanting to add the small Uniqlo calendar to my blog's side bar widgets but don't know if it's possible. According to the directions on the website it's pretty simple ;Choose where you live, size, music or none, then copy and paste the code to your blog. The problem I'm having is....under what widget do I put it? I've played around with my blog widgets to try to get it to work and I'm not having any luck. Do I need to upgrade to add it in or is this impossible.
Any answers would be great.

Yeah, I tried plugging it in, but must be doing something wrong.

When I plug the one I want in (NBA Top Story), it gives me the MLB Top Story. Stared at the code for about an hour now and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong..

Did you take a look at the link I gave you? It says what information to use in order to convert the code you are trying to insert (which is forbidden) into a Gigya shortcode (which is allowed).

Hi. It looks like those widgets use Flash. "Embed" tags are not allowed on WordPress.COM, however a workaround is to convert them into a Gigya shortcode as explained here:

Ok, I'm trying to add one of these Widgets from this ESPN site, http://espn.go.com/community/widgetcenter.html#nba , to my NBA blog.

I tried sticking the embed code it gives into a Text/HTML widget and it isn't working.

Any suggestions? Or what am I doing wrong?
