Interesting. I just got my feed link by going to my Photostream page and then clicking on the "Edit" link in the navbar. Opens the old photostream page and the RSS link is still at the bottom there, at least for now.

The feed URL is a little longer, including
&lang=en-us&format=rss_200
but still works in the WordPress.com Flickr widget.

Thanks macmanx. I will try the above steps to get the correct Flickr id.

Please disregard what I wrote above, as it looks like I haven't quite received the entire new design on my Flickr account, so the instructions above are invalid.

Instead, it's a bit more complicated.

For the Flickr RSS URL, cou can enter http://api.flickr.com/services/feeds/photos_public.gne?id=MyID and replace the ‘MyID’ part with your Flickr ID. Please use http://idgettr.com/ to find your correct Flickr ID (which is different than your username).

We have also updated the documentation at http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/flickr-widget/

It looks like Flickr has changed the structure of their RSS feeds a bit. The widget still works, but your Flickr RSS URL may need to be changed.

Your RSS URL can be found on your photostream on Flickr (not a photo, album, tag, or any other page). Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see the RSS icon and "Subscribe to [name]'s photostream." Right click on either and copy the URL and paste that into the widget's Flickr RSS URL box.

This change on Flickr's end has the potential to break everything that uses a Flickr RSS feed, so if you as a customer could let Flickr know, we'd (and everyone else who relies on Flickr RSS feeds) would really appreciate it.

It is entirely possible that the new design may be rolling out gradually and that what I see under my Flickr photostream is not the same as what you see. What I can see for sure is that the structure of the RSS URL has indeed changed, so contacting Flickr may be the best course of action for you.

Needing your help,

When I share to my WordPress blog from a Flickr album, I LOVE the way it previews the little snapshots automatically. However, after a few days, when I return to my blog, my wordpress snapshot previews to the flickr gallery show error messages: "This photo is currently unavailable"

I know I haven't changed anything with my Flickr albums. Why is this message happening, and where are the beautiful and convenient snapshots of my gallery? Something between Flickr and WordPress is not working correctly. HELP??

I looked at the HTML source code and it looks like the HTML is messed up. The HTML special characters are being escaped. It looks like this:

<img vspace="2" hspace="5" class="flickr_photo" alt=" <p><a href="//www.flickr.com/people/NAME/\"">OUR BLOG</a>

Hi,
I have a couple questions about some of the widgets on my sidebar.

First of all, the Twitter feed widget. I don't like how the follow me button is right up against the side, is there any way to move it over or centre it?

Secondly, the Flickr widget on my sidebar. It feels like there is a lot of wasted space here, can I have a grid of 4 images rather than a single column going down the left, leaving the right side bare?

Cheers,
Rory

Hi there Handfulofsapphires,

Since this is a completely different issue with the Flickr widget, could you create a new thread? You can tag it with "modlook" to ensure a staff member sees it. You can just copy and paste your request from here to the new thread.

You can go here:
http://en.forums.wordpress.com/?new=1

You would "modlook" this post by entering the word modlook in the field under the post area itself.

My Flickr widget previously was set at "small" size photo options.

However, I tried to updated the number of images shown from 3 to 4 and it will only revert back to the thumbnail size photo option whenever I click save.

1) Have moved this around to various parts of the sidebars + all possible widget areas to no avail.
2) Does not matter if I decide to show 3 photos again (nor 1 - 10) it still jumps back to the thumbnail size option.
3) Have deleted the widget to redo the flickr widget.
4) Moved widget to inactive to edit. Still jumps back to thumbnail size.

Haven't changed my choice of browsers or updated anything recently.
Firefox; view is the same on both Firefox + Safari. Any assistance appreciated!

Hi TyLa,

This is a bit hacky, so it may not work, but try adding this (in addition to what you already have) to your CSS page:

<!--[if IE 8]><br />
#flickr_badge_uber_wrapper img {<br />
    max-width: 200px;<br />
    padding-left: -200px;<br />
}<br />
<![endif]-->

The idea is that we're adding a special piece of CSS to only be read by IE8, and it is moving the padding of the images to the left 200px. If this works for you, but the spacing is off, you can increase the 200px in the last line (padding-left) to make it move further towards your content, or you can decrease it to move it back towards the scroll bar.

But let me know if you don't see any improvement as well!

I added that CSS code, and the pictures are an acceptable size, but in IE they're now out of the sidebar.

Please advise.

And thank you for your help!

Hi again,

So I got some feedback and it turns out that the Flickr widget isn't really made to be an RSS image feed, which is why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Since you have Custom CSS, you should be able to add this to get your site fixed up:

#flickr_badge_uber_wrapper img {<br />
    max-width:200px;<br />
    margin: 10px;<br />
}<br />

Just let me know if you need help adding that, and I'll be happy to walk you through it!

You'll also be pleased to know that from seeing how you are using the widget, we're taking the idea of an image RSS feed into consideration for a future enhancement.

Cheers!
