Click my username to find my blogging tips blog. :) I don't post an email address or use a contact form on my blog as I spend so much time answering questions here, working in our business and doing contracted work that I cannot cope with an additional email load.

That's already the case. See > http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/04/26/more-likes/

For clarity likes and shares numbers are misleading when you are talking about page view stats. Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com blog who is logged into WordPress.com can "like" and "share" your posts in several locations such as the Reader without ever clicking into your blog and creating a page view stat. Those who have username accounts only but no blog can become followers and click the "like" and/or "share" buttons. Those who do not have accounts cannot use the like button. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/07/09/wordpress-followers-likes-and-stats/
Note: To compel readers to click into my blog to read the full posts thereby creating a page view stat, I have set my RSS Feed for posts to “summary” on this page > Settings > Reading

Would it be possible to add 'like' and 'follow' buttons to articles that I have subscribed to by email? That way I do not have to go to the particular Word Press blog in question and 'like' or 'follow'. Alternatively, I could reply to that article received and 'like ' it or 'follow' it.
