Hi there!
So I have spent so long on the internet trying to do what should be very simple (or so I thought), and even wandered over to wordpress.org to attempt changing my entire CSS and that just didn't go well. How do I make the mammoth-sized font smaller in the Ryu theme? I'm at http://www.littlerabbitears.com. I have downloaded the style sheet, but whenever I change it in the customizer, nothing changes! I guess I don't know which line to choose.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,
Miranda

Hey,
I'm using the ryu theme right now and i recently have been put into problem because of it...
as you know in the theme when you upload a picture, the theme automatically selects an ambient bg colour for the post...
i was publishing a picture sometime back and i noticed that the font was invisible due to the themes choosing the bg colour as white and the font colour as white...
how do i fix this problem and without purchasing the custom design?

So there is no way I can use my own font with wordpress. No matter what I upgrade, buy or change? Only the TypekitFonts?

I know that, with a free wordpress site you can not change the font, so I was thinking about buying the 'Custom Design' upgrade. But I think that this will not include the fact that I can use my own font, but only 'custom' fonts. Is this correct?
Because it would be silly buying it, if I can not use my own font with it.
Is there an other way? Another upgrade that will make me able to use my personal made font in the wordpress?

I have a custom WP themed site at celebrateit.tv. I'm am a CSS / template / HTML rookie trying to learn my way through so I can make the basic tweaks I need.

First things first: my pages look horrible and I need them to look great. Eventually will want to add images etc.

I can't figure out which files to use to touch those pages, messing with the main CSS without messing up the look of the homepage etc.

I installed http://www.codemyownroad.com/products/stylesheet-per-page-wordpress-plugin/ but can't figure out how to create the custom style sheet.

Thank you thistimethisspace. Yes I am aware that with HTML generally, one is best advised to stick to the common fonts, and the common sequence of substitutes, right down to serif or sans serif.

Typekit gets around this by establishing a licensed protocol with, well, typekit, which can be specified in the HTML, so that the browser can download the required fonts. It's still not 100%, since the browser may not implement the protocol, in which case it will be ignored, and the normal hierarchy of fonts will prevail.

My problem, if you can call it that, is that I believe certain typographies are best for some kinds of writing, and other typographies for others. For example, a story with lots of dialog might be best served with, say, a serif font, reasonably tight line spacing, indented paragraphs, no inter-paragraph space, and maybe even a justified right edge--as we see in books and kindles. Essays, poems, art commentary, and blog posts may each demand different typographies. Editkit has clearly solved the general problem as well as it can be solved, and I'm just pleased that it also allows us to specify typography for individual pages.

Can the Typekit mechanism be extended to provides fonts for particular pages?

Yep.

it’s important to know that regardless which fonts you may wish to choose to jazz up your blog with, your browser and your visitors’ browsers can only use the fonts installed in the same computer.

This is true if you just list the fonts in a font stack in the "font-family" property in CSS, but if you load a font into the browser (that's what Typekit does) then the font will load regardless of whether the font exists on the user's computer.
