Yes, you need coding in the so-called "Text" editor. If you only mean typewriter-like font, centered character names, and left-aligned lines, you can do it this way:


NAME HERE
LINE HERE
OTHER NAME HERE
LINE HERE
[ETC]

Do you also want the excerpts to be narrower than full width, and/or enclosed in a border (like the image I saw on one of your recent posts)?

I blog now and then about screenwriting techniques, which means it's often useful to be able to refer to lines of dialogue in screenplay format. So far, I've just been saving these examples as pictures and posting them into my blog posts - however, this is problematic when people share the posts via Facebook, as the thumbnail sometimes ends up as one of these snippets of dialogue, instead of a proper picture.

Is there a recommended way for a WordPress.com user to put words in a screenplay format. I'm thinking I might have to do this all via HTML, since I can't add the plug-in that works with WordPress.org blogs. I was just wondering whether anyone had already created this HTML coding.

Hi all:

I have a custom WP themed site at celebrateit.tv. I'm am a CSS / template / HTML rookie trying to learn my way through so I can make the basic tweaks I need.

First things first: my pages look horrible and I need them to look great. On http://www.celebrateit.tv/marketing/ and http://www.celebrateit.tv/events/ I need to adjust the font size (bigger and Gotham Bold) and alignment (not centered, want to show number as in visual page editor). Eventually will want to add images etc.

I can't figure out which files to use to touch those pages, messing with the main CSS without messing up the look of the homepage etc.

I installed http://www.codemyownroad.com/products/stylesheet-per-page-wordpress-plugin/ but can't figure out how to create the custom style sheet.

Any help GREATLY appreciated...

After creating a slideshow, then when you choose "Gallery" in Format, a thumbnail photo appears on the main page. I understand that this thumbnail is selected randomly. However, it would be nice if we can pick our own thumbnail. Please consider this. Thank you.

Emails that come from WordPress for follows or likes come in the form of a picture (with no Reply button).

Emails that are generated BY WordPress to tell me about new comments come in a text format. No images, no Load images button. No Reply button - but I can reply via my own email server - and the on I tried didn't work - I got a message from WordPress saying they'd had a problem and to try it on the blog instead of by email.

I have tried all the subjects I can think of on Settings/ Discussions – to no avail. I have looked it up under every combination of words I can think of under Support and Forums. Nada.

It’s not my email problem - which displays both kinds – it’s somehow how they are being sent.

I would prefer to GET emails in the picture format WITH a Reply button.

Hi everyone: for the past few days, the front page of my blog hasn't been displaying properly (though individual posts and subpages display just fine). The widgets are at the bottom of the page, and the previous post title ends up in the sidebar instead. I can't figure it out. Any suggestions? I've tried switching browsers and using different computers already. thanks!

(I use the Vigilance theme.)

Hi,
Does anyone know if I can change the text on my blog (Skeptical theme) from 2 columns to 3 columns wide, so I can alter it according to whether I'm posting a poem or a travel article?

Is there an easy visual way for readers to see popular or recent posts (with photos) without having to scroll down in date order?

Or can you suggest another (user friendly) theme that I can use for the above

I want to keep my customised header & if possible the customised background.

It's a problem with the Freshy theme on WP's end ... no word as to when it will be fixed.

Everything on my blog was exactly the way I wanted it a couple of hours ago. I just logged back on to check it out and it was formatted completely wrong. The side bar is missing and the blog is no longer centered on the page, it is spread out across the entire screen. It is happening to everyone I ask, it is not just on my computer.

thanks emilyindia, I'm having the same problem. In old [familiar] format , EVERYTHING was on toppage including my latest post and sidebar. With justpi's suggestion [thanks] only 'about' appears on 'static' page; I want what I formatted in the sidebar ALONGSIDE my content. So how do I get my old format back

If you mean the "Customize" link in Appearance > Themes, you don't need it: all the options it offers are also available via the dashboard sidebar. You set your front to display a static page in Settings > Reading.

The sidebar is not loading up at all when I try to customize my site, this is happening on several different computers and on different dates and am still having this problem. It means that I have no static front page which causes problems for people trying to view my webpage.

I can see your dropdown now. The third item links to the main posts page, which means that the page "Movie Reviews" has erroneously been set as your posts page in Settings > Reading. You need to create a blank page in Pages > Add New, title it Posts or whatever you prefer, and set this page as your posts page.

For some reason, the drop-down menu keeps acting up. Sometimes it will work, and sometimes it won't. It's set up right and should be fine, but I don't know what the problem is.

When opening a new page that was created for my VeggieTales-related blog, I try to select it and it redirects to the wrong page. I've double-checked all the links and everything, but it simply loads the wrong content, for some reason.
The main issue is when I use the drop-down menu on the main page, there are three selections. The first directs to the corresponding page, the second does the same, but the third directs to a linked page for the second page.
Is anyone else having this problem? Is there any way to fix this?

What I would suggest you use is the read-more tag, so that a visitor can see several posts on your blog front without having to scroll down too much.

First, post formats help highlight different types of content, and work best with the right content. The image format can be used when the content is a single image. Your post isn't like that, it's a regular post that includes several images, so you shouldn't use the image format for it.
Second, the visual differentiation you get when using an alternative post format varies from theme to theme: it may range from subtle to gross. In Coraline there is a differentiation when you select the image post format, just not a very obvious one: the datestamp and the comment link move from below the post title to the end of the post.

Hello,
even though i have options for different formats when i post a blog using my theme Coraline, my post always looks the same (format wise), for example today i posted this http://margavp.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/more-indian-beauty-indian-beauty-parlour/
the only change is that the word "IMAGE" (the format i selected) appears at the top of the page. I would really like to use the format feature. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks in advance
