You can make the front page of your site a static front page and then put a carousel into that for images, but if the theme does not have a post slider built in, you cannot add one via CSS. CSS is a styling document used by the browser to style and place existing elements of a web page. It cannot be used to add functionality.

I might suggest looking for a theme you like that has a post slider.

The specificity has to match what is in the theme. For example, if you look at the CSS with your browser tools, you will see that "text-align: center;" is setup for the selector ".lay1 > div p" Your rule with just "p" as the selector is less specific. If you match the selector used by the theme, it should work:

.lay1 > div p {
	text-align: justify;

Hi all,

I have a blog for my photography called http://clairesuttonimages.com/ using Ever After theme. I love it...well I loved it until something odd happened. I had it set so the front page showed a feature slider of my most favourite posts. All was fine, I had 10 further posts showing, but I made sure they had images below 850 and were not sticky. This made them show as title and tags only which was good.

Suddenly they all started showing featured images (using the first one from each gallery on each post). I have checked and the pics are still under 850 so I don't know why they are showing featured images. I have had to reduce the amount of posts showing to 1 in the interim so the page does not look so 'busy'.

Is there any way of forcing it to NOT show featured images...or ideally to just show the slider on the front page and not any other posts at all? At the moment it won't let me put ZERO posts as an option so 1 is the least I can have.

Thanks is advance!

Hello, my blog is http://concept8llc.wordpress.com/, and I have the front page set to "Your latest posts," and I have limited the "Blog pages show at most" option to three items. There are three posts that I have made "sticky" posts, and these are the posts with the orange images.

I was under the impression that by making three posts sticky and then by limiting the number of posts displayed on the blog pages that I could in effect keep the three posts that I wanted on the front page, but there are now five posts being displayed! The other two posts have no been made sticky. At this point all I can think of is to change the publish date on every post, but I really do not want to do that.

Is there a way I can force the front page to only show three posts without going to a static page? I don't want to use the static page because I like the way the front page looks and works, for the most part.

Thank you for your help, and let me know if there is any more information that is needed that I haven't included.

I should include a disclaimer that I am fairly new to WordPress. If this should be on another forum, just let me know and I will repost, but this one made the most sense to me. Thanks!

You are posting to the wrong support forum. This one is only for free hosted WordPress>COM blog issues. If you don't have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.org bloggers.
