You can also copy the URL of the blog then go to http://en.wordpress.com/report-spam/

Paste in the URL then a short why it is spam and click on Submit - if you do the Admin bar way the URL is already filled in - but the above form also works

No that link describes what to do. You got to the front of the spammy blog. On the top left hand corner of your Admin bar locate the "report as spam" link in the dropdown menu. Click it and a page opens where you can type your report to Staff.

There are 2 in particular that are doing it in the Apps topic currently. Is that the link I go to to report them then?

Yes, the Topics pages are attacked by those spamming their commercial blog posts.
Yes there are bloggers in the news niche that post nothing bu regurgitated news form the main media outlets day in and day out.

I will definitely do that next time I see it in the App tag (or anywhere else). I didn't know that was something you could do. I work entirely on an iPad, so mousing over isn't an option, but I'm sure that I'll figure it out. Thank you!

There are so many "blogs" that are really just companies trying to sell something or advertise things and they do post after post after post

Those are probably in violation of the terms of service here - just report them as Spam - left side of the top bar where the blog name is - mouse over it and then click on Report Spam for advertising or affiliate catalog links etc.

I agree with this 100%. I'm more successful in finding wordpress blogs I'm interested in via google than I am on wordpress.com itself.

I don't need help with anything right now. I'm just annoyed. Trying to surf through the App tag to look at blogs is downright frustrating anymore. There are so many "blogs" that are really just companies trying to sell something or advertise things and they do post after post after post making it almost impossible to find real blog posts on apps. I sometimes see up to 20 or more posts by the same "blogger" and it is really, really annoying. Shouldn't there be something that puts some restraints on that? I'm not saying they shouldn't be able to post, but couldn't we see 1 or 2 of their posts with a link to "more posts by this blogger" when this happens? I end up switching to the App Store tag or something like that so that I don't have to sift through so much garbage to find real blogs. Is anyone else frustrated by this?

To get rid of the EXIF data: Dashboard > Settings > Media > unclick "Show photo metadata in carousel, when available"

As for the spam... spam is spam. We all get them. If they get past your filter, mark it as spam so Akismet can learn from its mistake.

I am being flooded with spam on even with filters. all from bing accounts.this has never been an issue until about 2 months ago. i contacted wordpress, not a peep from you. thanks so much. it has only become worse.

also, all of a sudden i click on one of my images, like i always have, and i can no longer share it. why? it gives me this useless camera info now. When did this happen and when will you fix it?

if changes are going to be made to my site i must know. Traffic has dropped significantly in the past two weeks bc i rely on the share button for tumblr, twitter,stumbleupon,etc.

hopefully you get your act together bc this has sucked and your phone app has been all sorts of useless at just the most critical times.

When I hover over "design" then "architecture" the project under there won't display correctly. It cuts off the second word and puts the remaining letters underneath. It looks really bad. Does anyone know how to fix this?

1) That's because you have omitted the http part of the URL. You've pasted this:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjzeibak
instead of this:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjzeibak

2) That's because you haven't typed anything that would work as a link. You should type "LinkedIn", select it, click the link button, paste the URL etc. (You've only added "LinkedIn" as the title of the link: the title of a link isn't the visible/clickable text, it's the info that shows up when you hover over the link.)

So I have been trying to place a link in my page 'Photography' and 'Contact'. In my photography page, I write this in the HTML window:

That's a published post you've set as a Quote. Forever displays Quote and Status format posts in the footer. You need to go to Posts > All Posts, edit the post and select the Standard format (or trash it, if you don't want it at all).

I had a draft of a post saved and for some reason it's now showing up at the bottom of my homepage, in a place where the format is not supposed to have any posts. I've tried switching to a different theme and then back, but the post seems to really just want to be there. This draft was deleted and no longer exists on my account.

I've had too many things on my plate this past week, but promise to get to it today. I've compiled all the "evidence" and have it saved in a word doc. I just have to do the email.

@ pornstarbabylon - the ones that just post a paragraph and a link back, I usually ignore, because though they're earning money off their blog, they're at least only quoting... which many people do including myself. You know they aren't writing any blog content on their own, but some of the most popular blogs out there (humor at least) are just posting stuff they've found elsewhere. It's when they post my complete work and then either make it seem like I'm a contributor to their blog, or that they wrote the post... that's when I want to hurt them.

However, in the comments to that funmmeec post at my blog, a very good point was made about how some of these sploggers aren't aware of what they're doing because they've bought a package from someone that promised to set up a blog and provide all the content... so they can make money. Doesn't excuse them, but it does explain how some splogs are different from other splogs. This one is, like Mark said... nasty.
