Hi Vincent,

It appears that at least one of the image files you sent has "exe" in its binary code, which is tripping a security alert on our end that prevents the original files in that post from being displayed. (This is a rare occurrence, and I apologize for the inconvenience.)

Can you try re–exporting the images from Lightroom, remove the images from the current gallery for that post, reupload the newly–exported images to that post, and insert the updated image gallery?

Please let me know how that works for you as I'd like to know if this is an isolated incident.

I do find this curious because I'm also a Lightroom user and haven't come across this yet on my blog. I'm still using Lightroom 3.6, but I hope to upgrade to 4.1 really soon.

Thanks!

Hi Bryan,

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with this.

I'm using the exact same version of Google Chrome as you (21.0.1180.82). I cleared my cache but that doesn't make any difference.

I tried it on Safari and Firefox and there also I'm having the same issue:
- 1st image: not showing in 'view full size' (in carousel showing ok)
- 2nd image: also not showing in 'view full size' (in carousel showing ok)
- 3rd image: showing ok in 'view full size'

I'm almost sure it has nothing to do with the type of browser but more with the actual image file and/or the size of the file.

According to Firefox the first and second images can't be displayed because it contains errors. Image details:
- 1st image: JPEG Image; 0.04 KB (37 bytes); 0px × 0px (scaled to 1440px × 787px)
- 2nd image: JPEG Image; 0.04 KB (37 bytes); 0px × 0px (scaled to 1440px × 754px)
- 3rd image: JPEG Image; 1155.86 KB (1183600 bytes); 2499px × 1944px (scaled to 1011px × 787px)

It looks like it has something to do with the dimensions and scaling of the images. Do you know if there is any limitation in size in order to properly view it in full size (button right under image in carousel)?

- 1st image: View full size 4320×3240
- 2nd image: View full size 2500×1875
- 3rd image: View full size 2499×1944

I used Lightroom to enhance those pictures. Maybe there's something wrong with my settings when I exported the pictures to WP or maybe something went wrong with the rescaling in the media gallery of WP itself?

I'm pretty lost at the moment... :-)

Thanks again for your help.

Vincent

Hi,

I'm using the Carousel gallery to display my images, but I don't want people to have the option to click the 'View Full-Size Image' and potentially download the full resolution image. Is there something I can do to disable this, or am I going to have to resize and reload all my images manually? This seems like a poor way of fixing the problem though.

Thanks.

Thank you, absurdoldbird, re the comment about how the image is presented by the browser.

I looked at the image in both browsers just now and noticed, in the new window, that the mousepointer was a magnifying glass, which I pressed, and it scaled up to show the full sized image that I'd uploaded.

I guess I should have allowed for the fact that my laptop, on which I do all my work, is a ten-inch screen and the browser window itself, after all that menu stuff at the top, is reasonably small. I now have no doubt that other PC configurations that are larger than mine will show the full-sized image automatically, without the need for a magnifying glass.

So, I'm happy with that outcome, just as I am happy with my blog's theme. T

hanks for your advices, and, you're not an absurdoldbird..... :oD

The example you gave opened for me to your 800ppi (pixels per inch) image. I found that out via a right click on it and looking at the image info. The scaling is, I think, to do with how the window is presented by the browser, but don't quote me on that.

I wonder if some of the confusion lies is the theme you're using? If so, someone else who knows the theme well will probably be able to help you better than I can. Here's the support documentation for the image settings:

http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/image-settings/

By the way, I gave a response to your other question, in another thread.

http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/post-images-sharpness?replies=4

It's best to stick to one thread at a time for each topic. I know this one is slightly different, but it's still about your problems with posting images.

In a theme that has a maximum image size, you can't view an image at a size larger than that, other than opening it in another page - if your theme will allow that - or by choosing another theme.

Personally (speaking as an artist) I'd choose a different theme altogether. This post will tell you most of the image sizes of the themes here on wordpress.com (though a few of the newest ones may be missed out):

http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/maximum-image-width/

This question relates to my jmnpixels.com blog.

I upload 800px images. My blog post full image size is 580px. That's okay.

The link to the uploaded image is retained for some images, so that a visitor can click onto the post's image to see the detail better. I direct them to do that.

However, on checking this, I notice that the image size when viewed in the new window is the same size, ie 580px, although it does look slightly sharper. The image URL information in that window's address bar says it has been scaled to 75%. My expectation was that the full 800px image would be viewed, not a scaled down version. Here's an image as an example: http://jmnpixels.com/2012/04/12/jigsaw/.

When uploading an image to insert into a post, is there something I can do, perhaps in the Advanced Settings (which is mostly gobbledygook to me....LOL), that will allow that clicked-on image to show its full 800px size? Thanks.

Hi thesacredpath!

Thanks for the tip. I tried that but it does not function. I make a new post, mark it as Standard, upload it to my Gallery and I use it as Featured Image. It still does not function properly.

Could it be in the settings?

To use an image as a featured image for a post or a page, do not worry about those settings and do not insert them into the post or page. When you upload the image, there is a link down at the bottom that says use as featured image or something like that. Click that link and then you can click "save all changes" and the image will then show up as the header for that page or post.

Hi,

I am experiencing problems with the media size in Twenty Eleven Theme.

The theme tells me to size my Featured Post pictures at leas 1000 x 288 but unfortunately I can't upload that large pictures as my only option after the upload is either:

Thumbnail (150 × 43)
Medium (300 × 86)
Large NOT AVAILABLE (gray dot)
Full Size (584 × 168)

Any idea what is going on? I have tried to set the media size to over 1000 x 288 but I'm not able to.

I'm using the Twenty Eleven theme with Showcase at the moment.
