Stylesheets, in nearly every case, will use "relative" urls (relative to the location of the CSS file). Since your custom CSS is not stored in that original location, all the relative urls will not work. This is one of the reasons you want to put into the stylesheet, only the specific selectors, and only the specific declarations you are changing or adding. This also makes it much easier to keep track of what you have changed when you go back in to make changes later.

In the Custom Design > CSS tab just clear out the contents of the edit view, then ensure you've selected 'Add my CSS to XXX's CSS stylesheet.', click 'Save Stylesheet'.

FYI, your problem above was that the images were referenced in the stylesheet like so:

images/red/button.png

So you'd need to replace them all with:

http://s1.wp.com/wp-content/themes/premium/magazine/images/red/button.png

Basically putting the full URL to the various images. However as timethief above says, you only need to enter the styles you want to override rather than the entire stylsheet.

Can I use the Genesis framework with studio press child theme on WP? All indications from studio press is that I am suppose to but I cannot find any way to upload the themes. WP faq says I cannot upload themes so what am I suppose to do? My understanding is that studio press themes ARE wordpress themes for purchase but WP won't let you use them?

Are there any clear tutorials out their? The tut that studiopress provides is obviously not correct if WP won't allow any themes to be uploaded via ftp or under the appearance section.

Hi,

I'm writing to you because I'm very confused about how to install a Custom Theme on my WordPress blog (www.CommunicationSkillsTips.com)

I bought the Genesis Theme and have been trying to upload it to my blog. I realized that I needed to buy hosting, so I bought hosting on GoDaddy.com. This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPuBLvP8c6g) tells me that I should have a "Install Theme" button on WordPress but that button does not seem to show up?

Could you please help me because I am not very technically literate?

So...I'm a totally novice here. Last year I started a wordpress.com website and am self-taught on most of the basics.

That said, I'm at a point where I'd like to build things up a bit and have just learned about the Genesis Framework.

The problem is, I have no idea how it works -- and I don't want to spend the money on it without knowing what I'm getting myself into.

Is the Genesis framework something I can even USE with my existing wordpress blog? Would I have to start all over again??

Any direction or advice would be much appreciated.
