WordPress.com, which hosts our blogs, whether we have purchased the domain or not, can do whatever they want with ads in our blogs, they can show Google AdSense or WordAds or what they want - as stated in the TOS.

By purchasing the No-Ads upgrade, the ads aren't posted on our blogs by WordPress, whether they are Google AdSense or from anywhere else. We purchase the upgrade, they don't show ads on our blogs. Period.

1. What I understand then is that Google's AdSense program can run any ads they want on my wordpress.com site - because that is what is happening right now. You are informing me that Word Press is putting these Google ads there and that they can (as per 2006 Terms and Conditions etc).
If so, then that is okay by me.

2. My confusion pertained to being told (yodaman) that:
2.1 "Currently, you cannot use Google AdSense on a WordPress.com blogs. The reason is that WordPress doesn't allow it."
and
2.2 "You are right, WordAds can only be added to a blog that has its own domain (doesn't have the .wordpress.com on the end of it)."

As such, I hope you can understand my confusion at the conflicting responses I'm getting, since these aren't WordAds on my site but AdSense, which I'm told aren't allowed on my site (but they are there).

Secondly, my blog does have wordpress.com at the end of it, which would indicate that WordAds cannot be added to my site as it doesn't have its own domain name.

Getting No Ads upgrade then, as you all seem to be telling me, hardly seems applicable because, and I repeat:
1. These are not WordAds, these are Google's AdSense advertisements.
2. How can they be WordAds anyway, if it has wordpress.com at the end and not its own domain name, and therefore WordAds cannot be featured anyway.

I hope this makes it clearer.

However, if you still think that WordPress.com is initiating these Google AdSense advertisements on my wordpress.com site, and I need a No Ads upgrade to make them go away, then I am okay with that.

As tsp told you, those ads are put there by WordPress.com itself. It's blogger-initiated advertising which is not allowed.

Buy the No Ads upgrade and they will go away.

If you do not want to have the ads on your site, then you can get the no ads upgrade.

If you want to put ads on your site here, then the wordads program is your only choice.

Either that or self-host your own installation of the wordpress.ORG software on a third-party hosting service such as godaddy, bluehost, etc.

In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.
