The gradient is there and consistent in Safari and Firefox.

[opinion]
Chrome has issues with CSS3 gradients. When they will fix that is anyone's guess since the seem more interested in running up version numbers that actually fixing things.

Internet Explorer, is, well, Internet Explorer. Standards compliance is not in Microsoft's vocabulary - never has been. On gradients, MS requires you to create complex, obtuse filters.
[/opinion]

The only way to get around this would be to create a repeating PNG gradient image that could be used instead of CSS3 gradients, but that would require the Custom Design Upgrade to implement. You know, go back to mid 00's technology so MS and Chrome don't blow up?

Did you try saving the stylesheet to see if CSS Tidy is stripping out some of the CSS? The reason I ask is that it has in the past stripped out gradient stuff. The original CSS isn't run through Tidy, so the stuff isn't stripped out.

If using preview, alway make sure and force refresh the preview page as it sometimes does not display the changes.

I'm currently using the Chunk theme.

When pages get more lengthy and longer, the header which has a gradient effect from grey at the top to white at the bottom becomes distinct lines of colour which although are intermediate colours in the gradient, can get so fat and large that in essence I end up with only have two coloured bars at the top, a dark grey and light grey one, clearly NOT a gradient. I'm currently limiting the number of posts per page to two, and that has slightly relieved the problem, but it is still very visible.

How can I fix this?

Thanks.

Hey I tried to use your advice and is not working... I have no idea why... I don't know if Css in WordPress has some restrictions or what.. anyway..

The div is Page so this is my code

#page {
background: #1e5799; /* Old browsers */
background: -moz-linear-gradient(top, #1e5799 0%, #3aff72 50%, #f7f7f7 64%, #7db9e8 100%); /* FF3.6+ */
background: -webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, color-stop(0%,#1e5799), color-stop(50%,#3aff72), color-stop(64%,#f7f7f7), color-stop(100%,#7db9e8)); /* Chrome,Safari4+ */
background: -webkit-linear-gradient(top, #1e5799 0%,#3aff72 50%,#f7f7f7 64%,#7db9e8 100%); /* Chrome10+,Safari5.1+ */
background: -o-linear-gradient(top, #1e5799 0%,#3aff72 50%,#f7f7f7 64%,#7db9e8 100%); /* Opera11.10+ */
background: -ms-linear-gradient(top, #1e5799 0%,#3aff72 50%,#f7f7f7 64%,#7db9e8 100%); /* IE10+ */
filter: progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient( startColorstr='#1e5799', endColorstr='#7db9e8',GradientType=0 ); /* IE6-9 */
background: linear-gradient(top, #1e5799 0%,#3aff72 50%,#f7f7f7 64%,#7db9e8 100%); /* W3C */
}

But nothing happens... Have you put a color degradation as a background in wordpress???

Thanks in advance!!

Each browser has their own way of doing gradients, and you have to include all of those different declarations (7 unique) otherwise those other browsers will not render the gradient. Go here and use their online gradient generator and it will generate the code for all browsers.

This is the coding that an online linear gradient generator is giving me... I'm trying to see it in Google Crome and Safari
