Yes that was what I was doing. I copied and pasted the code from Google but it must have had an extra hidden character somewhere that caused a line break and I kept getting a 404. Removed teh linebreak and hey presto. It worked.

Very few themes have an author profile designed into the theme. See here for selection of another theme that does not have this feature http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/

For themes that do not have an author profile, you can create a draft post and create an author profile in it and then copy and paste it on the bottom of each post.

Note to the wise: re author profiles
Lengthy author profiles are ignored. They look unprofessional. Adding a lengthy rambling blah, blah, blah to every post will compromise your credibility. Create one that accurately reveals your authority and brand in as few keywords as possible.

Just a question, how would I enable author's gravatar profile for every post using Misty Lake Theme?

You will see that the Gravatar image in the Gravatar Profile widget is not square. Compare it to my Gravatar and you will see that my left ear (right side of the image) has been cutoff like Van Gogh. It hurts!

Looks like a partial fix is in. The Gravatar is no longer overflowing, but now it is cropped on the right side... Thanks for your attention to this.

I tried previewing my site with other themes. Most don't show that widget area, but a couple did (now I can't rememember which). It looks like it's having the same issue in other themes which suggests that the issue might be with the code in the widget (Gravatar Profile).

I am using the Splendio theme. I have the Gravatar Profile widget in the First Footer Widget area. The problem is that the image is too large and it is spreading into the Second Footer Widget area.

I have tired different browsers, including Safari and Firefox. I have also tried moving the Gravatar Profile widget to a different footer area, but it's always the same.

Any suggestions welcomed. Thanks in advance.

Many bloggers want to thank you for leaving a “like” or comment on one of their posts but can’t visit your blog because you haven’t provided a link to your blog on your gravatar “Profile” page. Here’s how to add this link to drive more traffic to your blog:

1. Hover your cursor over your gravatar (you will find it next to one of your comments to a post) and choose "View Complete Profile."
2. Click on "My Account" in the top menu bar (you must already be logged into WordPress to see this menu).
3. From the drop-down menu choose "Edit My Profile"
4. Choose "My Links" from the left-hand menu.
5. Enter the URL of your blog and its name.
6. Click on "Add."

After you do this, a link to (and thumbnail picture of) your blog will be available to anyone who clicks on your gravatar.
