Hi,

Firstly, thanks for the reply! I figured out that I need to change the font color in the div class .postentry in the greenery theme. So, in the edit CSS window I added the following:

.postentry {
color: #000000;

	/* customizing the original colour used in the theme as per LIP reqt.
color: #748669;  */
}

Now, this div class does have more code in the original theme, so I am guessing it will pick up the other liens of code from the original div class and only override the font color property. Am I correct here? please guide me.

Also, when I make this change and preview the page, the fotn color gets changed but I see a javascript error on line 550 - I am guessing it is somewhere related to defining the div class. I am not sure, how to solve the error though. Am I missing something here?

Thanks once again for all your help and support!

You know, Greenery has nearly a billion places where font color is set (well, 39 actually).

Your best bet is to copy the stylesheet out and into a plain text file and then search for the following.

color:

You can then go through them one at a time and change them as you see fit. You will want to only add what you are changing to the CSS edit window, do not copy and paste the entire stylesheet. Example.

The body selector looks like this

body {
    background: url("images/bg.gif") repeat scroll 0 0 #B1E11C;
    color: #A6B79B;
    font-family: "Lucida Grande",Verdana,Arial,Sans-Serif;
    font-size: 62.5%;
    margin: 0;
    padding: 0;
    text-align: center;
}

If you are changing only the color in body, then you would add this to your CSS edit window and then change the hex color code.

body {
color: #A6B79B;
}

You can add a selector and color declaration, change the color and then use the preview function to see what changes if you are not sure.

In case I wasn't clear, if you create a custom menu with the right items there will be no double highlighting.

And you don't need to copypaste anything: just turn your actual intro page into a parent page and trash its useless parent. Go to Settings>Reading and make sure your intro page is selected as your front page. Then go to Appearance>Menus, click the cross to create a menu, give it a name, click View All in the Pages module, select the pages, click Add to Menu; when they're added, drag them to change their order if necessary, click Save Menu; then select that menu from the pulldown in the Theme Locations module, click Save.

Thanks airodyssey. The links you provided did not help. Changing the order or the parent page in Attributes does little to stop both my page titles on the header nav bar to be highlighted simultaneously. Click on http://vuthisa.com/posts/ and you'll see what I mean. I just wanted to know if it is a glitch with my specific theme or whether it can 'somehow' be fixed in Attributes or by doing it differently to the way I explained above.

I know there is a ton of information out there to make another static page your Home page and have the Blog posts appear as another page, and I've got my blog to function OK - thanks to this forum. But unfortunately when readers click the Blog Page on the navigation bar, the Home page and Blog page are both highlighted at the same time - which could be quite confusing for the reader! A bit of history on how I got my Home page to display the way it is: I created a static page to be my main page, and made a child page under it. I then needed to "make private" the parent page for the child page to appear. Perhaps it has something to do with my theme Greenery by iLemoned, but every time I want to edit my child page, I need to "Publish" the parent Home page, and of course return it to "Private" when I am done. If I don't do that my permalink address of the main page changes - gets a numerical number added to it, I got to no.5 when I finally figured this out. I have left it like that for a few months now, but perhaps there is a way to fix it.

Parent permalink: http://vuthisa.com/home-5/
Child permalink: http://vuthisa.com/
Home page: http://vuthisa.com/
Blog posts: http://vuthisa.com/posts/

Please help.

Can anyone help? I amended the background colours and other text colours of this theme (only!) after purchasing the customer CSS mod. Before this the site worked fine.

After modifying the css the header image simply disappeared. We have done no coding change which would affect this. I have reasonable html/css knowledge so know roughly what I am doing when amending css.

I restored the original css, but this made no difference - header image still did not show.

We then changed theme, reverted back to the original theme, restored original header image, uploaded a new header image....and everything else which would be the sensible and obvious things to do.

Nothing makes any difference! I still cannot get any header image to show.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
I have cntacted support but am still waiting for a reply.

/nod to unmallya

1. Yes, the green is a background image although it is not applying correctly for some reason - even if I correct the code. This is likely due to the fact that you have pasted the entire CSS into the CSS edit window, which can mess things up - especially when it comes to any relative image links that happen to be in the CSS. They all end up breaking. See this post by devblog: http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/ . If you keep the entire CSS in the edit window, then make sure that "start from scratch..." is selected in the CSS edit window.

1a. My suggestion is to add the following to #wrapper in your CSS and replace the xxxxxx with your chosen color code:

background: #xxxxxx none; scroll center top;

The above replaces the gif image that is used for the background with a color declaration which if you want a solid color is the way to go.

2 & 3. Since you have your title in the image, my suggestion would be to actually increase the size of the font to around 80px in #header h1 and change the color to transparent. Also change the color to transparent for #header h1, #header h1 a, #header a:hover . What this does is makes the header text invisible, but makes the header area clickable for the most part, which will give a link back to the home page. There are other ways to do this as well.

Thanks so much for coming back to me!

I'm happy to have the box remain, but do you know if there's a way of changing the colour in css? The green in my logo is clashing with the green of the box... :(

Cheers

Hi all,

Have been bashing my head up against the wall for a good few hours on this... Absolute blogging/css newbie, but have purchased the upgrade and battled my way thus far.

My page is here: http://tabloidprincess.wordpress.com

I'm using greenery theme, and have a few issues:

1. How do I change the green box that floats between the background and the page elements? Can't seem to find it anywhere?!
2. Is there any way of shifting the location/size of the blog title link? It's interfering with my image.
3. If I can't move the blog title, is there a way of making it invisible? Tried to make it 0px, but you could still see a little dot. I still want my site to be optimised for search engines, and it's my understanding that if I remove it entirely in Settings>General, then it won't be indexed.

Apologies if I've used wrong or unclear terminology here - this is all new to me.

All the best and thanks in advance.

I need to know how to remove some items that come with the "Greenery" template. I've figured out how to remove some of the item but not all of it. By applying the CSS below I've hidden the 2 RSS feed links but I can't seem to figure out how to remove or hide the text "FEEDS". Its in a <h2>Feeds</h2> tag. Can anyone help, is this even possible?

#sb-feeds ul {
display:none;
}

Here is the direct url:
http://degreesofemotion.wordpress.com/

I was thinking of hiding the <h2> tag but I can't because other things in the sidebar I need to be visible that use the same tag.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

~ Echo
