On the homepage I do want to have my latest posts but only from a certain category, or just certain posts. This is because I have an image section and a text section.

It looks messy to have both because the text section appears without an image and I don´t want to add an image to it.

I understand that you can´t have a category as the homepage but is there some solution to this/some way of creating a static page that will show my latest image posts?

However, the effect in this case is done with jQuery not CSS. It looks to me like the technique at http://www.dessign.net/gridthemeresponsive/ is done the same way. You can test to see if something depends on JavaScript by temporarily turning of JavaScript in your web browser settings and then reloading the web page and trying to trigger the hover effect again.

There are probably some CSS-only hover effects that are similar but definitely modern browser only. Try doing a Google search for "CSS hover effects" to see what you can come up with.

If you meant the social media icons at the top right of the Gridspace theme, note that those can be controlled by adjusting the menu at Appearance → Menus → Top Menu. See http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/gridspace/ for more details.

I want to strip down "gridspace" to its minimum, take away every line on both main page and posts.

If you want to remove the border (or shadow in this case) from the main content area, add this too:

Is there a way to change the post title to a smaller font in Gridspace? - I can change it on the front page, but when I click to the actual post it's still large.

I also wondered if I can make the black line along the top a little thinner?!
