@cantueso, thanks for the link - I followed the suggestions including deleting all cookies etc and it still isn't fixed for me using Chrome browser latest version on Windows 7

Set the length on Settings->Writing. I find 40 lines works, 20 too short, and anything over 50 wayyyyyy too long.

but I am afraid to eliminate all the cookies, since I do not know what they represent. Maybe scrolling the long editing window is the lesser evil.

Hi,

This issue is only affecting one of my WordPress.com hosted blogs.

I made the window in the visual editor longer while editing a post, and now it is "stuck" at an excessively long setting. Grabbing the resize control to restore it to a shorter length appears to work, but the length returns for new posts, or if editing draft or published posts.

This problem only affects me, and only on this blog; other contributors have no issues with the editor.

We cannot use Javascript for security reasons. The software strips it out.

re: the ASAP
This is peer support forum. On most blogging forums it takes between 12 - 24 hours to get a first response to any question posted. We do far better than that here but we Volunteers ie. your fellow bloggers, who multitask from work as I do, don't appreciate ASAP demands.

You can link to an outside forum - you can't install a forum inside your blog

I just finished creating my blog. Took me all day to set it up just right and load links, etc. Unfortunately, just as I was to put the finishing touch on it -- a discussion forum plugin -- I learned that there is a .com and .org and I set up in the .com.

I am NOT a techie, and my site is for a very small group of people and totally private. In my despair, can anyone recommend what I could use for a discussion forum?

http://fionavanbrabandt.com/ is a WordPress.COM blog, and does not have a theme editor or plugins. And there's no upgrade that will change that.

Theme editors and plugins are for WordPress.ORG blogs hosted elsewhere.

What we have here is a paid Custom Design upgrade which enables you to edit the CSS only, not the way the theme operates. And as for plugins, we have thousands of workarounds depending on the desired effect. What do you actually want to accomplish with the plugins?

Sorry about the confusion! We had a temporary glitch on WordPress.com and were able to fix it within a few moments. Everything should be working properly for everyone again. :)

You can still write your post and save it as a draft. For the links I need to add, I just copied and pasted the link address next to the words I wanted to link. I'll just add them when WP is fixed.

Do the same with your pictures. Where you want to put a picture, just type <PICTURE>, and you'll remember where you wanted to put it.

so, for 'buffalojams' it would be:

http://buffalojams.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php

and see if you can access the HTML editor.
