As for your other question, there's no rule about how many categories+tags you should use. Quoting an older staff reply:

There is no hard limit. You can use as many tags as you'd like. Somewhere around 10 is a fair number, but that's just a suggestion. The more tags you use, the less relevant it is to each of them, and thus less likely to appear on some of those tag pages.

Two things to keep in mind:
a) Never use the same word or phrase as both a category and a tag (you're guilty of that). There's absolutely no point doing this, plus you may run into technical problems when you do it.
b) Search engines nowadays pay more attention to your content rather than your tags. Here's Google's Matt Cutts on tags:

thesacredpath has good solution. it is done.

If you guys still want to answer questions I invite you to this post. I would still like to know if it does any good to modify tags in old posts considering new spandexing info I learned from Timethief. Also, does it matter if tags are plural or not...

If the Visual editor overrides the HTML tags you enter, this means that the tags you enter are forbidden or mistaken. For example, in the post you linked to you've got some ol tags that enclose plain text. These are wrong: ol tags are used in ordered to create numbered lists, and they should enclose li tag pairs. What exactly are you trying to do?

@smoothreentry, WordPress will filter HTML in posts, and anything that is going to cause your site to "blow up" will be stripped or will be modified to support web standards. Before they did this, we volunteers spent probably thousands of hours trying to help users fix their sites.

If you create a list in a draft post and then use the visual editor tool to set the list to the first level OL, then you put the cursor at the beginning of the next level line, and click the "indent" button. For a third level (from the first) you click the indent button twice. This is what the code would look like. The first line is normal OL. The second line would be indented one more level, and the third line is indented to the third level. Note what the code looks like. Note where the ending "LI" tags are in relationship to the starting LI tags for the second and third opening LI tags.

I would suggest using the visual editor and the OL and Indent buttons for any lists. They will create good code with proper syntax.

This is the first item

This is the indented second item

This is the third indented item

Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. If you want to learn how to format and space your posts and pages see:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/writing-and-formatting-poetry/

If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.

If you are working in the HTML (Text) editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/09/13/wordpress-formatting-and-spacing/

P.S. When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It's in the Visual editor Row 2 first position "style". See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

How do I add iTunes html tags to my podcast feed? My current feed is http://skeinafterskein.wordpress.com/feed/ and apparently it is not properly formatted (it has no 'itunes:...' tags and lacks the 'itunes declaration' at the top which enables iTunes to read them), and won't read any picture or author. I'm also not able to get any statistics.

Does anybody know how I can update my feed so that I can make changes to how it appears in iTunes and so that I can get statistics?

Thank you!

I recently had a professional contact me stating he had tried to leave a comment on one of my blog posts. He wanted to link to his site, which I was completely fine with. However, the comment he wanted to leave had html tags. After several emails back and forth, and some tweaking on my end to our comments section on the site, he is able to post a comment without any links. However, he is still unable to post a comment with the html tags. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have allowed up to 10 links on posts, I have enabled comments without moderation, etc... Anything else I should try?

Thanks!!!

Reblogging is getting a big makeover right now so there could be some intermittency and flakiness to it. Hopefully that will settle down shortly as they get the kinks worked out.

2. Some have been reporting this, but I've never been able to reproduce this (lack of) behavior in Safari 5.1.2 or in Firefox 8.0.1 on my Mac. I've even tried an older version of Opera and it works fine as well. Some have had luck by using the "link" button in the HTML editor rather than trying to use the one in the visual editor.

Go to settings > writing and select "Wordpress should automatically correct..." and then save changes. Just in case there is an error in some HTML on the code, that should correct it for you instead of tossing out the link.

3. Again, I've not been able to reproduce this behavior, so I have no workarounds to offer.

I'll tag this thread for staff attention and hopefully they will respond shortly.

I am fighting to undocumented enhancements.

First, and the more unique for me.

I was able to reblog a couple of blogs. The reblog feature is intermittent. Sometimes I can reblog from a site and sometimes I cannot. OK, I gotta think some of the "sites" are preferences on their end.

But, this has happened on same sites. At first, I thought, "That is nice. You cannot reblog a post multiple times." Then I noticed that other posts were also unavailable. But. other bloggers were re-blogging.

I don't think it would be first come first serve, sometimes multiple bloggers re-blog ....

I can copy and paste.

Second, most ANNOYING..... The link button is intermittent as I write posts and pages.

Third, most AGGRAVATING ..... HTML coding goes intermittent as I try to work around 2 .....

I was a geek once upon a time. So, 2 & 3 are really out there.

Hosted by wordpress.com

Editing has been done through safari (viewing through firefox)

Theme 2010 ....

OS Mac Lion .... I know - that has its own set of peculiarities. Surely, that is not affecting server side code? And I will test those peculiarities when I get a Windoze & Linux boxes back beside the Lion.

I am in the FSU .... I cannot see that being an issue other than slow ....

I used to be a blogger, so I would like to really get back in the swing of things with some of these great features.

Any help is appreciated. And of course, comments are always appreciated .... right?

Wayne

Hi. Maybe "tel" links are not supported by WordPress.com after all. I suggest you ask them once the contact form reopens in a few days:

I'm trying to use a "tel:+###########"

tag in a page, but rather than behaving as such a link normally would, it goes to "http://[myblog].wordpress.com/+###########". Is there any way I can work around this?

There is no free way to remove the HTM tags you point to ie. useful instruction to your readers telling them which HTML tags are allowed in their comments. Assuming it can be done with CSS editing upgrade, and I cannot confirm this because the blog linked to your username is not one that has these HTML tags for comments, and as all CSS editing is theme specific here at wordpress.com, then you will need to have CSS editing experience and also purchase an annually renewable CSS upgrade. As wordpress.com has provided a Preview feature for CSS editing you can try before you buy here > Appearance > Edit CSS

Only some themes have this so if you prefer you can simply switch to a theme that does not have the HTML tag instructions for comments. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/05/10/html-allowed-in-comments-1/

Timethief is right. This being said, are you trying to ask us how to remove this?

You may use these HTML tags and attributes:

<del datetime=""> <strike>
