I saw that wordpress.com strips out certain code, so I was wondering if there is a way to embed the new Reverbnation HTML5 Player? Saw some old post about using [gigya] shortcode but I couldn't get that to work and I think that just works for flash based objects.

I have incorporated SEO work for my various WordPress websites by editing meta tags, social implementation with GooglePlus etc., and utilizing proper semantic markup. However, recently I was briefly referred to this company, SML, by a representative. My sites are all already 'mobile-friendly' and I have access to plenty of coupon-generator-plugins, chat plugins, QR barcode plugins, and even "SEO" plugins... all open source. So why should I pay for these services? What are open-source alternatives to their services?

Keep-in-mind, I have very little SEO knowledge aside from editing meta tags and utilizing HTML5 semantics. Can someone with strong SEO knowledge please point me in the right direction towards a better understanding of incorporating the best SEO for various websites such as personal/blog-sites and business/real-estate/retail-sites. Are SML's services worth any price if the services can be done fairly easily for free? Is their 'Directory Submission' exclusively better than personally submitting? Thanks in advance!

But all of my code is gone, I can't just replace it. What is the code to use without any of the text inside of it?

The code for name and id is the same. After replacing "name" with "id" your links and page jumps should work exactly as before.

I need more help with this. My "name" anchors didn't have the words I was jumping to within the tag. I just pasted them above the place it was to jump to. What is the code so I can do that with the id tag? It would be way too much effort to insert it around some text. I have 700 and some to change! I just want to paste them in, change the number and move on.

Also, am I going to have to change anything with the links that go to the anchors?

I edit those pages weekly. So I have to redo a thousand anchors--literally. This isn't going to be fixed any other way?

hebrews110: In existing posts the name attribute disappeared (and page jumps stopped working) only after updating a post. As long as you don't edit existing posts everything should be fine.

So do I have to reinsert hundreds of anchors? The pages still jump even though the code disappeared. I just write it differently from now on? I find it disconcerting that the code is just gone, even if it does still work.

nleviatan, thanx! If you knew that how much work was in some of my recent pages to insert anchors and jumps...! To replace all the nameswith idswould be also a pretty much work. And joyful. I kiss the WP! Thanx to god that I has tried and applied the page anchors and jumps not long ago.

evitae: name worked until a few days ago. Now, only the id attribute works.
I think that WordPress changed their HTML validation algorithm to comply with HTML 5, broke a bunch of pages in the process without informing the user and forgot (or didn't get around) to update the online documentation (last modified in August 2, 2012).

And it had worked for some month until now! I think it is a bug or they has changed the algorithm without any message to users.

I think I've found the solution. The "name" attribute is not supported in HTML 5. Instead of "name" use the "id" attributes. It's a pity that WordPress HTML validation code just removed "name" instead of replacing it with "id".

I believe there is a new bug with page jumps. Every anchor point I add disappears once I switch back to the Visual Editor or save a draft.
All of my previously created anchor points are also gone.

By comparing Post Revision I traced the page anchor deletion to between October 5 and October 11.

Most all themes here have already been converted over to HTML5 and the doctypes are all HTML5. As far as supporting user HTML5, no one knows when that will happen, or if.

Everyone has already done it... Google (all of G's products), Twitter, Facebook, Yahoo, even parts of Wikipedia.

Does WordPress not want to switch over to HTML5 because it will take a toll on their features revenue?

This works fine in Safari but using Firefox v13.0.1 on OS X 10.6.8 it does not load. It also does not work on Opera mini for android.

It does work on Chrome for android and Safari for iOS 5.
It migrates to Flash perfectly on Firefox for Windows as well as internet explorer.

Also, the 'mini' style widget from Soundcloud is now appearing as HTML5 (ie much larger - also ruining design/layout of pages).

i'ts also happening to me and its very annoying. i try to post as tidy and lean as i can, but with this update, whenever i have post two or three 'mini' style widgets from soundcloud (i.e for an ep release) it leaves a large gap between them. i hope this is solved anyday soon.

My blog design is built largely on the square artwork-based widgets for my music on Soundcloud. However I've just discovered that all of these widgets are now not appearing properly on my blog.

They seem to be either appearing in a squashed up form of the HTML5 soundcloud widget, (which was previously unsupported by WordPress), or a little oblong mess if the artwork widget is inserted in a new post. Also, the 'mini' style widget from Soundcloud is now appearing as HTML5 (ie much larger - also ruining design/layout of pages).

Is this a problem with incompatibility between Soundcloud and WordPress? Does the introduction of HTML5 mean that earlier widgets don't work? That's absurd - surely a primary requirement of HTML 5 should be that earlier widgets work with it, or it will mess up everyone's websites and cause them a lot of headaches and work.

Does anyone know if WordPress can resolve this, whether it's something they are sorting out with Soundcloud, or if it's an issue I just need to take up with Soundcloud?
