Like the title says it's about the Rounded Theme. The "Leave a reply" link right below posts/pages is placed on top of a speech bubble image named "bobble.gif". See here (bottom): http://roundeddemo.wordpress.com/lorem-ipsum/

Unfortunately the .gif is too small when the string "Leave a Reply" is translated in the various languages hosted on translate.wordpress.com. The translated strings tend to break out of the .gif which looks really ugly when you ask me. I've checked some languages and made screenshots for german/hungarian/italian:

rounded_de.png

rounded_hu.png

rounded_it.png

Wouldn't it be possible to use some CSS code and a resizable container to make the bubble match the length of the string?

Cheers

I've got a wordpress setup where I spit out a list of company names in french. Many company names start with accented letters, such as É (capital E-accute). They come after Z. I've tried changing my collation to "utf8_unicode_ci" not only in wordpress's config but in the actual databases (by munging the SQL file).

No matter what I try, I can't see to get the basic order of E,e,É,é,È,è, etc.

Can anyone offer some tips? What do I need to do to sort correctly?

Following good experience of other reporter, I'll try reporting issues that are more deeper in wpcom. If problem is solved successfully, expect flood of related reports from me.

There are two main issues with "Likes": they don't use plural forms and their placeholder usage for post types is very unfriendly. For both cases, here is an example.

String:
You and %s other bloggers like this %s.

In use:
You and 2 other bloggers like this post.

Problem is that post (type) is shown in original, English form. We need to have: 1) all separate cases for each post type 3) placeholder while post type would have context so that we know that its used in this exact string.

Other issues:

if there are two or more placeholders, there should be argument swapping like %1$s, %2$s, etc, because of different order

sentences shouldn't be splitted without meaning (eg: other bloggers like this %s.)

tab on homepage showing likes doesn't have all strings in gettext

strings in top bar (already discussed)

Most of this issues are common for whole wpcom code and developers should follow some standards in i18n, most of them are covered on the Codex.

Now lets see results, in the past mostly we didn't see them.

Anyway, this is all very nice, but what I meant was a bit different. You have to have a profile (i.e. already register) and then you change the interface language into Russian. In LJ and Blogger when you type in the address of the bloghosting home page (whether you have a profile or not, which is more important) you get a Russian interface, despite the .com address. The absence of this makes WP absent from Yandex list of blog services (they count the number of posts for about 50-60 services). I complained to them, but they said that WP isn't a Russian language service. Well, a silly answer taking into account that LJ and Blogger aren't Russian services either. But there is also truth behind that silly answer: WP isn't Russian language service in the sence of not having an ability to automatically determine that a user is opening it from Russian and automatically change the interface language.
Again, this is no problem to me (I can even switch back to an overall English interface after playing with Russian-English one). But this all significantly limits the WP fanbase in Russia (not the last country in blogosphere) among ordinary bloggers, not just computer geeks and people with taste. But then maybe it helps keep WP so tasty for the existing fans.))))

Hello all,

adnaysh, if you want your interface language to be in Russian go to your profile page -- there you can choose "ru - Русский". The switch in the Options page just determines in what language are your blog posts.

We will be very happy if you contribute to the translations on translate.wordpress.com. You can log in there with your WordPress.com username and password. If you don't see your translations on the live site for a long time, just write in the forums or to the support, we will take care of it.

Thank you,
Nikolay.
