That can't be done on a WordPress.com blog. It can be done on a WordPress.org blog, but you'd need to be over there to find help with that.

Hi all.

Not sure this is going to be easily done or even possible without some other service but thought I'd ask anyway.

Basically a have a doctors site set up and i would like for patients to be able to request a copy of medical records online, now obviously this needs to be secure and i need to verify there ID when they register.

Is this something that can be easily done, or would i be best looking for a 3rd party solution?

I already have a registration form set up and to confirm email etc.

The option isn't broken: category IDs are numbers. To find the ID of a category, you go to Posts > Categories: hover over the name and look at the status/progress bar of your browser, or hover over the name then click Edit and look at the address bar of your browser.

Hi,

I want to exclude certain categories from appearing in the category cloud.
There's an option for this, but it seems to be broken - the categories I list to be excluded are still included. (Blurb, Uncategorized)
Is this widget broken?
Is category ID simply the name of the category (eg Uncategorized) or is it something else?

after deactivating and reactivating my jetpack plugin i discovered all my stats to be gone. some searching led me to that it had something to do with my blog id.

After checking my mobile app i however discovered that all my previous stats were still there. When i logged in on wordpress.com i then discovered that for some reason my blog had been asigned two id's

The old one and the new one

though i am glad that not all my stats are lost this is a major inconvinience.

I just want them my stats available to my old id.

I never, ever use the wordpress or Open ID logins to comment on Blogspot blogs, because they generally fail. I use Name/URL.

After I updated my WP iPad app to WP 3.1.4 I can't comment on bloggers blogs. i Can type the message, but when I want to choose ID the window gets transparent and I can't choose the wordpress.com ID. please help me, hope there's somebody WHO Can help me!!!

Hi
Currently setting up my first wordpress site (on my localhost so cannot share url).

I'm wanting to embed a google calendar with multiple calendars in it so that users can see bookings in various rooms. This is no problem using the iframe code provided by Google but I'm coming across a problem that I can't seem to fix.

All of the calendars have names such as "Upper Room" & "Lower Hall", but when you click on the drop down arrow to select calendars you don't see their name, instead you see their google calendar id (e.g.: [email redacted])

Is there anyway of changing this? At the moment it's not possible to easily identify which calendar is which because of this.

If anyone could help I'd be grateful!

When you hover over an unpublished post or page title, you will see something like this at the end.

post.php?post=1473&action=edit

See the "?post=1473"? 1473 is the post/page ID. Your number of course will be different.

Hi,
I want to hide several pages from my "pages" widget.
I learned from other Forum and Support articles, that I can find the "page ID" needed to do that, by going to dashboard -> pages -> hover above the title of the page in question
There should display "action=edit&post=XYZ" - XYZ being the page ID I'm looking for.
However, I only ever get "action=edit" on all my pages.
My blog is still set to private, since we're still setting it up.

How can I find the page ID on a private blog?

Facebook like box works only with facebook fan page only. If you have a facebook fan page then add the url of it to the facebook like widget. http://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-badge/

Where my facebook likebox is supposed to be I only get a red square with the text: Could not retrieve id for the specified page. Please verify correct href was passed in.

As far as I can tell entered the correct Facebook url.

Any ideas on how to get rid of that?

That's a good idea and it would help us tremendously, because lots of questions can only be answered effectively if you visit the blog: many answers are theme dependent, or require checking the sourcecode of the page or other things to find what the issue is, etc. So we often waste time when we have to post an URL request instead of an actual reply, or when we give a reply based on the username link and get greeted with "oh no, not that blog, the other one"...
Personally I would add a note next to the option you suggested - something like: "for fast and accurate answers, volunteers generally need the URL of the blog in question". Maybe I'll drop a note to staff, or discuss this with other experienced volunteers first (some staff members don't seem to be very happy when we try to tell them how to run things here). Thanks!

b) No, the URL you provide when starting a thread is only used by the support bot that gives an automated response if the blog isn't a wp.com blog. It's not made public, to respect the choice of the relatively few users who may have reasons not to link to their blog.

Maybe an option box next to the drop-down menu saying "Do you want to include this website address in your post?"?

By the way, searching for various combinations the tags to this post in Support docs and the forum didn't get anything useful. Also, when you start a new topic in the forum, it asks you what blog you are talking about, so I assumed (without checking) that it would publish that. Maybe that would be a useful new feature?
