No, it still exists.

Can it be something with my security settings? I often get a message "Only secure content is displayed", and to be able to edit I must press the "Show all content" button?

That's an IE script error. IE7 produces the error too. If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

if it’s still happening after you do that copy and paste any error reports you get into this thread please.

I can see the visual editor button, but when I press it nothing happens. I tried emptying cache and cookies.

When I pressed F12 and started debugging I got the error "Script5009: switchEditors is undefined" on this page: http://volvoveteran.wordpress.com/1956-7/ ?

I run IE9 but I get the same error when I tried Chrome.

Only 1.3 % of those on the internet are using outdated IE7 browsers.

The only "fix" for using outdated browser versions is to upgrade them to the most recent stable version which in this case is IE9. That can be done here http://browsehappy.com

If the operating system they use is windows XP then they will not be able to upgrade but they can download either Firefox 16.0.1 or Chrome 22 at that same link.

Note: Internet Explorer 10 launches on October 26, 2012 along with Windows 8. The Google Apps team announced that it will no longer support Internet Explorer 8 (and lower) as of November 15, 2012. Hi WordPress,

I have a number of users who use Internet Explorer v7 who are no longer able to comment on posts on my blogs. Last week they were able to, but something changed on Thursday last week (there was some sort of system administration work being done, and since then the blog has not been working correctly on Internet Explorer 7).

Can you please advise what we can do to fix this?

It looks like you're using Internet Explorer 7. If you are, please try upgrading to Internet Explorer 9, or switch to Firefox or Chrome.

When I try to log in, nothing happens. I have to "sneak up" on it by googling mty blog. Then, when I am sneakily logged in (and sometimes this happens even when it lets me log in) when I try to download a video, I click the "from URL" thing, and then the "from video etc" thing, and then the "insert into post" box disappears!
Plus, if I try to download an image, I click the "select files" thing, and nothing happens.
This is really hampering my attempts to blog. Any help is welcome. I get nothing on the "support" page....

SimplyAlmond: When I downloaded the newest version of FF (15.0.1) the edit page came up, the links to work on the page were visible (previously I couldn't see the links across the top of the edit box) and it saved perfectly.

At least for working with my blogs, I'm going to stick with FF.

As your IE9 browser is no longer running in compatibility mode I wouldn't recommend that unless you do feel so inclined. If you do then to upgrade any browser version or download a new browser see here http://browsehappy.com

Yea!!! I upgraded Firefox and was able to edit a page. Just knowing that IE7 wasn't supported made things make sense. I'll firgure out what to do with IE next but I so thank you for your help in this.

okay. Because IE9 says I currently have a "newer version" and it won't download. I have Windows 7 64bit and this should work, but I don't understand why it says I have a newer version of IE9. Maybe I have to download ie8 first?

I use Firefox and Chrome, however, my husband likes IE. What to do. Maybe work on the W pages with an updated version of Firefox???

I'm on an old PC running Windows XP but I ditched IE years ago when it was IE6 (the worst browser wver!) . Currently I do have IE8 which I rarely use and only when I answer questions here. I also run Firefox 15.0.1 and Chrome 22 and I prefer FF.

Microsoft's IE8 support with be gone as of November 15, 1012. Internet Explorer 10 launches on 10/26/2012.

I may be having a similar problem. I can't get the edits I make on a page to take. I clicked on the link and have Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0;

Do I need to upgrade to IE8?

THANK YOU! It is now working properly and I've got a new experience under my belt. If you are up for it, might you explain what changed that would cause this incompatability? This issue would have arise sometime between 9/17 and 9/25 (when I discovered it). Again, thank you for your advice and direction.

As of recently, cannot not change page/post status from passworded to public; cannot copy prior posts; cannot load media into pages/posts on any of the five blogs I manage.

I see that you are using Windows XP and IE 7 - can you please try using a different browser to see if that helps? IE7 doesn't work very well with most of the newer things we are using on WordPress.com

The problem is there without using the compatibility mode.
The problems started when the latest set of "improvements" was roled out during the last couple of days.

For me the problem started all of a sudden.
I have latest IE update, same as when I posted last time, and everything just started changing during the last 24 hourse. It started with a small button appearing that you had to click on to be able to answer comments, and then the "improvements" just hailed in and the site stoped working.

Both my computers (previously working fine when posting) is now blocked out from editing tags, photos (uploads too), links (and probably a lot more).
Problem is also the same with Firefox. So, I assume the problem is on your side after the "improvements".
