Well, there's nothing else I can do to get rid of whatever on my browser, since I did all that was suggested. I could purchase more expensive virus blocker/scanner, but since this is the only issue I've ever run across on my computer or any sites, I don't think that's necessary right now. Do you have some other suggestion as to how to get rid of it? As I said, the link has the company "ad.mopub.com" at it's beginning; I would like to know more about how a link from that company got into my blog . . . somewhere.

On my stat page it shows the link, which is not the same as the ad page that I provided above - that was the url I took from the page after I had clicked the link. The link on my state page starts with "ad.mopub.com," so I went to that site to see if I could find out more. So are they allowing people to hack into my site somehow? If so, can't WordPress do something about them, since it's really WordPress they're hacking into? I wasn't sure if I should try and contact them and tell them what happened - if they'd care about it. I took a screenshot of the link - the part that shows - if anyone wants to see it.

Would the no ads upgrade really make it so these adware type things don't get through? I run the site because I want to, but we are low-income so I wasn't sure I wanted to pay more for a site, but if I knew that outside ads wouldn't get through too I'd consider it more. It would be good to be ad-free in general, yes.

I got rid of all my cookies and made it so I have approve of every cookie that wants access, I got rid of my history cache, I restarted twice, but the link is still showing. Wouldn't it go away from my stats if I got rid of it? I also took down my widget that displayed my clicked links. I had run a full scan on my computer two days ago, but I'll do that again. Other than that, I don't know what to do further. We can't find the ad and I don't see words in my articles that have links added, but then that would take a lot of looking through to find one, if there's only one right now. It's weird.

Another reason to purchase a No-Ads upgrade (I don't get paid to promote upgrades - I'm a Volunteer) is, so one does not experience competitors ads on their sites. For example if one has a Christian blog that keyword can trigger Scientology ads.

Thank you. I had my husband use another browser on his computer to see what he could see, and he did indeed see the WordPress ads - we could see they were from WordPress. The ad I wrote about however, he didn't see (though he didn't search every page . . .), but I think it might be one of those adware ones. That's a good article, and my son has had that issue with the word links on his computer. I don't download free games, however, and I don't do much of the other stuff either, as far as I'm aware. I'll clear my cookies and do what the article suggests, though I hate clearing my cookies since they are very useful!

If the ads you see are found at the end of blog posts then provided you see this link small About These Ads link what you are seeing is WordPress.com generated advertising.

WordPress.com does not use text enhance or text link ads or pop-up ads or links in comments. If you are seeing those then that's a browser-ad-on issue, or in some cases, it's embedded into free games downloaded from the internet.

I use Firefox so I can't see it, but apparently there's an odd ad on my blog. I found out about it because someone clicked on it. The ad is http://kulaville.com/lps/locator/rmsa1/start.php?SES=129419786&m=unknown&n=&_mps=0. Is this from one of your affiliates? If not, please can you do something about it? If it IS, I'd ask also to please do something about it. This seems illegal to me - doesn't it seem illegal to you? Stalking someone using their phone number? Anyway, ads like this will drive people AWAY from my site since it seems sleazy and my site is a Christian site. Thank you, Vicki

Some food for thought. No one has a right to demand that anyone respect a religion they do not embrace, nor do they have a right to demand that others do not criticize their religion. If that were the case there would be no Christianity, Buddhism, etc. Think about it.

I've noticed when checking my search term stats that I'm getting quit a few worrying entries like 'young children naked'.

I think I'm getting these because I wrote an entry on sexualisation of children in the media, referencing a photographer who featured semi-naked children. I know that searching these terms doesn't necessarily mean that these individuals are engaging in illegal activity, but I find it worrying and wondered if there was something I should be doing, such as passing IP addresses on to a relevant authority (I'm not sure how I'd do this, but imagine it is possible).

Would appreciate people's thoughts on this!

I don't think they're going to take my blog down for just wondering if I'm allowed to post certain links on my blog or not... I'm not going to do it if it'll get my blog taken down :/

I guess that's one of the major differences between wordpress and blogspot. There's heaps of blogs on blogger that have illegal stuff on there and I guess wordpress is a whole lot more careful with that sort of stuff. And javascript as well.

How did I get my blog to get special attention from WP.com? o.O
