yes - It's all original - i'm not sure why not indexing.... I've been trying things all day, no luck as yet!

My site:

doesn't seem to have all posts indexed by search engines or by wordpress.com search - even though I have submitted a site map and all privacy settings are public.

if I search on wordpress.com I get:

http://en.search.wordpress.com/?q=site%3Aibmathsresources.com&t=post

26 results - even though there are around 60 posts and 10 pages.

If I do it on google I get:

Link null

which is the page content, plus tags and a small number of posts only.

I have spent some time trying to find answers to this online - but nothing seems to appy to this....

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!

I don't know how to remove the first page that opens when I enter my url http://www.foreveronafter.com I want the current 2nd page "Honor these Hashers & Harriettes" to be the index page but I cant figure out where to make the change.

YES! Use posts and categories.
Create a custom menu and include the categories pages in it.

Thanks very much for the help, I am a little bit confused about what you mean in the second part of your answer however. (sorry I am new to wordpress and still struggle slightly)

Are you basically suggesting that, in terms of how successful it would be on google, rather than using pages for my 'history' tab, I use posts and simply categorise them using custom menus?

Both Posts and Pages are discoverable in Google search.

Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

Posts and Pages are not the same at all. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ Pages which are for static content that rarely changes, sit outside the blog structure, do not automatically update, and do not have RSS Feeds. Hi! I have split my blog into two parts, one part where I post tunes regularly, and one part where I enter weekly detailed features. In the tunes part I just use posts, however for the other part of my blog I use pages as I wish them to be static- since I am posting about the history of the music I do not wish what I write to be time-specific.

I'm helping make a website that ideally needs to be searched/indexed by Google Scholar, yet easy enough for a lay person to upload articles/publications of a scientific/health nature (which will be searched by Google Scholar).

Hence I have decided on WordPress as being a potentially useful tool. Now, regardless of the design (free/premium), what I wanted to ask was:

1) Google scholar robot needs to index the individual wordpress site. Will this happen? http://scholar.google.com/intl/en/scholar/inclusion.html

2) Is it possible to "export" the wordpress functionality of easy to post (ie make it simple to "upload" a blog with the text of a word document, as well as create a link to that document's pdf file)? Or would it be better to have wordpress host the domain of the site, and that would enable me to use wordpress functionality?

I have a dance blog, and most of my posts fall into a few broad categories: reviews, interviews, guides, etc.

I was hoping to set up links on my top menu (current pretty empty) to these categories, bringing visitors to an index page like this, listing everything in that category:

Is there a way to do this? And is there a way I can get these posts to look like they do on the homepage, with more text and photos included, in the Twenty Ten theme?

Static pages do not automatically update but Categories and sub-categories pages do. Categories do dis-play in alphabetical order but do not display until a post assigned to the category is published.

If you create a Videos Category for all and then create a sub-category for each player's name then you can:
create a custom menu http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
add the dynamic categories pages to it http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages
add the dynamic sub-categories pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-of-menu-items-and-creating-sub-menus
Then the sub-categories pages will automatically update.

basically i'm just using this blog to showcase the baseball videos. I'm trying to find a way (an easy way) to have an alphabetical listing of all the videos on one page (an index). All the article names begin with the players name, so alphabetical by first name would be sufficient.

Hi all,

I've been keeping a travel blog for the last 5 weeks or so and have noticed that doing a Google search for my name does not bring my blog up. In particular, I used the search string 'Andrew Strikis blog'.

A few weeks ago I realised that I hadn't included tags against any of my posts so I have been working my way through them all (slowly!) and doing this. One of the first ones I did though was my first post, where I included the following tags; Andrew, Strikis, Japan, blog

Is that enough to be indexed by Google, or do I need to add my name as a tag somewhere else in the blog?

Any help is appreciated!

Hi, my website has several fixed pages and the index shows one of them. Now I'd like to publish posts, as in a blog, but I don't want these entries to show up in the index of the website. I just want people to access the blog through the costum menu, but... what's the URL of the blog index? I can see how to add single entries to a menu, but not the general index of entries. How can I do that? Thank you much.

Hello,
I have added a wordpress blog to the website I'm just starting up but it isn't the main page (http://working-with.ca versus http://working-with.ca/blog).

The front page of the blog is fine but as soon as you try to click a link, it returns to working-with.ca/[permalink] rather than links on the blog page.

I have tried changing the permalinks to a custom "/blog/%post_id%/" but it said never to have url address in that field and (obviously) didn't work.

How can I change the blog's assumption that the address it can permalink through is working-with.ca/blog, not just working-with.ca?

Hi there. I would like to create an index page for my blog but I am not too sure if my template supports that as it doesnt have an option for it.

What i am trying to achieve is pages that look like this: http://rubbisheatrubbishgrow.wordpress.com/index/ so that it will be more user-friendly.

Any advice would definitely help! I have read somewhere tht you could change the coding for it, thing is, I would need some basic instructions to even get to that coding page (yeeks). Thanks alot in advance guys.

Then just make a static Page for your contact information. Links to other sites? That goes in your Links widget or, for some themes, your Links page.
