a) 2012 doesn't look like iNove at all. To look for a theme you might like, you can visit the Theme Showcase and see all (non-retired) themes in action:

b) Now that iNove is retired, we don't have statistics for it, but a year ago there were about 230,000 blogs using it, so I don't think the writing on the wall will become reality anytime soon.

Don't know much about 2012 (just a for example)--but I would think the "writing is on the wall" for iNove...maybe better to just switch b4 iNove disappears entirely... w/o notice...
???

I am happy w/iNove...so I would like to switch to something as close to iNove as possible, if need be.

When you switch to a different theme, you don't "move" anything: you just give your content a different appearance (and maybe some different functions). Only the widgets will disappear: you'll have to go to Appearance > Widgets and drag them back from Inactive to Sidebar.
But do you think that 2012 is better than iNove? Personally I don't.

For now at least, you can stick to it. Retired means no longer available in blogs created after this unfortunate decision.

Just happened by chance to run across something on WP pages saying my Theme, iNove, had been retired!

News to me--should I now consider moving to a new theme--like 2012--or will iNove still be ok since i already have it?

Seems to be working ok, and I didn't even suspect any problem.

I removed that thread since our terms of service require that the footer credits are kept in tact and that thread was giving advice that goes against those terms. WordPress.com does require you to keep the footer credits.

Can you please remove the following from your custom CSS?

You can add text to a footer using CSS only. Here's an example showing how to do it:

That looks like a theme bug to me. What is happening is the menu HTML is slightly different for the default menu, but the right arrow disappears if you setup a custom menu in iNove. Here is a CSS-only workaround I came up with that will temporarily help and I will also report this issue to our theme team to see if there's anything they can do about this to make it so a workaround isn't necessary.

That means replies can go back and forth for six levels of indent.

There is also a choice of numbers, for example, I chose "6 levels deep." What does that mean?

It looks like your comment threading was disabled. You can re-enable it under Settings > Discussion - by checking off "Enable threaded (nested) comments."

Nevermind, I think when you click YES for infinite scrolling it messes up the footer.

I followed the instructions in the link below to replace the footer with my own text.

It worked for a while but now the old footer AND new footer are showing. Any ideas why?

On my most recent post, the comment order is off. Meaning, I individually hit reply to each follower that commented. It did just that. But for the last few days, my follower comments are on top of one another, and my responses to them are on top of one another too.
Could you help me put them back in the proper order? So that I individually reply to each one, like I initially did?

NEVERMIND! I just used an image widget instead of a text widget.

I have another question that I'll ask here rather than make a new post...

In my navigation bar (home, about me, links) the thin separator line between the links that's shaped like a right-pointing arrow... How can I get that to show after the last link? After 'Links I Love' ? It used to be there but I must have changed some code and it disappeared.

I am trying to make my sidebar background all white. The top widget is still showing a light gray and so is the bottom portion of my sidebar. I use Firebug but can't figure this out. Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

This might hide all the dates in posts and comments. Don't know if that is exactly what you want, but until real help arrives, try it and see if it is what you want.

.date {display:none;}

Let us know if that does what you want or if it causes unintended consequences.
