The quality of the screen shot depends on the software that was used to take the screen shot.... I read this one WP.com blog and when they put YouTube videos in their posts they use a screen shot of the video and player so it looks like the video is embedded in the post I haven't seen any of those images taken down due to copy right issues...

As for copy right I really don't know if it falls under the "fair use" usage I can't see why it would be any different to have a screen shot compared to the actual video on the site...

Because before the reader would click play they would see the same image on the actual player as they would a screen shot that's linked back to the video on YouTube...

Yes, but wouldn't the quality of such an image be very poor? And what about the copyright issues of doing that? A video is publicly available on YouTube, but a screenshot is a bit different: if there are copyright issues, then YouTube would disable it, but a screenshot would remain.
Could be I'm being pedantic?

If you want the youtube video as a picture within your post it would require you to take a screenshot of the video then upload the image into the post... Then you can link the image to the video so when the reader clicks the image they are taken to the video on youtube.....

When you click on the post, the video shows up. Is there an easy way to get the video to show up on my homepage as a featured image/video? To use the "add video" section you paste the URL only which is http://vimeo.com/8047762 . I've had issues using the "add video" thing in the past, so I always put the video shortcode directly into the HTML tab in the editor.

1. I open my post/page
2. I click in Add Video on Upload/Insert above the tool bar
3. I choose "From URL"
4. I type in by hand, as is suggested by many here in the forum, [vimeo http://vimeo.com/8047762%5D just like is says in the help section.
5. I click "Insert in to post"
6. I click "Publish"

Nothing shoes up in edit mode and when I look in preview it doesn't show up and not in the visit site mode either.
I have inserted videos from YOUTUBE and that works just fine.
What am I doing wrong?
