The only themes you can use on a free hosted WordPress.com blog are those found here > Appearance > Themes and showcased here > http://wordpress.com/themes/ We cannot access and edit any templates underlying our themes. Only Staff can edit as every blog wearing the same theme is using the same template.

Unless you are prepared to pay for a VIP account, http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ there is no upgrade you can purchase that changes this at WordPress.COM.

I have just made a new wordpress blog and I want to install Catalyst/Dynamik. I have purchased Catalyst/Dynamik and I would like to install it but on my dashbaord I only have a 'manage themes' option not an 'install option' - it says I can click 'activate' to activate the already installed themes which are visible on the manage themes page. But I would like to install this Catalyst/Dynamik theme and the tutorial on that says I should go to 'install themes' but this option does not appear on my dashboard. COuld you please advise me what I need to do to get this 'install themes' option visible? I am trying to work on another word press site someone set up for me and this install themes option exists on that one but not on this one. with thanks, catherine

I have found lots of bits of information about it which all include changing codes etc in files, but I do not feel comfortable doing that myself as I do not have a clue about any of it! Is there not a simple way of doing it without having to set up hosts etc? I have a free blog no upgrades.

1. Are all files installed via web or do I have to access the main frame computer?

2. Can we edit a theme from two different computer? Meaning can I link up his wordpress database to my computer. Or is this unnecessary b/c it's all installed online?

Basically, I am not 100% clear on how a wordpress site works. I know that on dreamweaver you can connect multiple computers, word offline, then upload to the site. But wordpress isn't my strong suit.
