I've read posts here in the forums on this topic before but none of them provided enough answers to really help me... So I have a website done in iWeb and now I want to import it into wordpress so that I will show instead of my current wordpress design which is a bit unpractical in my opinion.
Anyone know how to solve this issue?

please any on help me just this evening, i was try to write some article and the make a post and as i was about to log in into my blog admin panel. This is what it tells me:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/diabetes/public_html/wp-content/themes/evolve/custom-css.php:1) in /home/diabetes/public_html/wp-login.php on line 349

and i even went ahead to put in my username and password to see if it will respond but it didn't it just tells me warning please help. does that mean that my site is gone? pls help my e-mail is [email redacted]

My suggestion is to ask over at wordpress.ORG since that is where the version of wordpress you will be using is supported. We here basically only know about using the wordpress.COM hosting service, and know little about setting up the software you are using.

Hello Any WordPress Experts Out There?!?! My site is http://www.greencheeze.com, hosted by 1and1. I used their web builder tool to create my site because I thought it would be easier and faster than teaching myself dreamweaver but I think I was wrong because their formatting is a ridiculous pain in my a$$!!! I don't know if that makes it harder to integrate my blog into my site but I read and tried over and over to follow the directions by wordpress, the directions by 1and1, watched youtube tutorials that are supposed to be specific for 1and1 and I was on the phone for an hour with a not so good technical support person from 1and1 and no luck. I keep finding contradictions between the difference sources. The wordpress files are downloaded and extracted. I have the wp-config.php all ready to go, I think I have all the configurations correct. I downloaded filezilla and got the server and port info from the tech support lady at 1and1 and it couldn't connect. So I have been unable to upload the files plus I am so confused at the whole process. It would be easier to get help verbally over the phone if possible or if you're local in the San Francisco Bay Area, that would be even better. Unless you can reply back here step by step with the perfect instructions? I am a bright person so I don't know why this has to be so difficult, I blame it on 1and1, I am really starting to hate them. = ( I don't know if I am allowed to type my contact info here, so if they bleep it out you can find it on my blog at: [bleeped out - Mark]

You can even copy each comment, submit it as a comment of your own, then edit the comments to restore original names and dates.

And please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (at the moment you've linked it to another site, which is of no use here).

You WILL have to copy everything over. But you can copy the comments as well. Just go to the post on the front of your blog, like any regular reader would see it, and copy everything in the post all the way down to the last comment. Then make a new Page and paste it all there. It'll look a bit odd, but it still keeps everything pretty much.

I want to merge two blogs into one, in other words just take all the blog entries from one blog and pile it all into one blog. I own http://www.theunrestrained.com and http://www.theblogoftech.com and I want to take the blog posts from theunrestrained and put them into theblogoftech

How are you attempting to do this? The importer should not overwrite existing posts. How many posts are we talking about? There are instructions in the FAQ for importing from Blogger:

I was just wondering, is it possible to add posts from blogger into an existig wordpress blog without overwrting the existing blog on wordpress?

Everytime I try it deletes my wordpress blog and just has only the blogger posts but I want both...

Any suggestions? and is it possible?

It would be great if comedycentral (Daily Show, Colbert) could be added to the sources like YouTube that can be linked.

You would need to have access to teh underlying files to be able to install a theme here. That's not possible as it would be putting folks at risk here for hacking.

Please also note that those theme are written for regular WordPress, not the WordPress Multiuser that powers this site. A lot of them will not work on WPMu.

The traffic issue is a toss up to be honest. Comparing numbers I think I've moved down in traffic since combining my two sites over here. On the other hand, I think I have a high PR over here and I don't have to worry about upgrading, admining my site, etc. That's something you have to do when you're hosting elsewhere which a lot of folks think there's nothing to it.

Hosting at WordPress.com brings a LOT more hits, all other things being equal, partially because of the tag system. It gives great googlejuice as well, for search engines. Social bookmarks absolutely depend on how many people are already reading your blog; it's a self-reinforcing loop.

I will consider the Custom CSS upgrade,
or pick one of the ~50 available themes within wordpress,
or host the blog at my webbhotel, where I can add themes, advanced counters etc...

I think that it will drive more traffic to the site,
to have the blog at wordpress, instead of on my hosting account, don't you guys?
Or is it enough to add a bunch of social bookmarkers, like del.icio.us etc...?

You can rename the files and upload them, but I'm not sure they'll be downloadable in that form and we certainly can't use our own themes here, because we're on a shared blogging platform. Basically, if you change the actual template, you change it for everyone using that template.

What we CAN do is get the Custom CSS upgrade and use that to change the look of our unique blogs, but not the functionality.

Maybe I can rename the files in the theme, for example rename: header.php to header.jpg,
upload it, and rename it again to header.php ?

There is 50 MB of free space in a free blog hosted at wordpress.
Many themes only takes 0,1 MB space.
I know how to upload themes to an EXTERNAL blog at my webhotel with my ftp client
to the directory: wp-content/themes/

But I wonder if it's possible to upload a theme to my free blog hosted INTERNAL at wordpress.org ? <EDIT> wordpress.com </EDIT>
It seems only possible to upload pictures?

WHY NOT?? There's a lot of fun stuff on flash, why not allow embedding?? :(

There are many instances about flash and other embeds that can be security risks that the staff of wordpress.com are not willing to expose all users to if one user posts something that would hurt the service. It is a policy issue that they have decided on to protect the rights of themselves and all users on the service. Other services do allow this and have instances of being hacked. WordPress.com has not.

For security reasons we remove the tags needed for the above. Your intentions may be innocent but someone somewhere would try to damage the site.

WordPress.com is a multi-user blogging platform and allowing such embeds could lead to compromising the security of all other wordpress.com bloggers. However, there is an alternative available to you. WordPress.org blogs run oin completely different software and you can either self-host a free blog download from http://wordpress.org or hire a web host to do this for you.

Not with what we have here. You can do it with regular wordpress with a plugin though. It's too easy for spammers and scrapers to abuse though.
