The CSS in your latest example needs all of the pieces including the link from the text widget with the "headerlink" HTML code in it. Try adding the text widget as mentioned above and then reply back here if you're still having trouble after that.

I did not have any menus created therefore I could not edit them. noob question figured it out.

To make the background header image you added to Inuit Types using CSS clickable, add this to a text widget:

Add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page:

Then look in your page source code and find the ID for the text widget you added (each one gets its own ID number when it is created). It should be something like "text-14". Add the following to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page except replace "#text-14" with your text widget ID number.

padding: 5px;
}

Adjust the 5px padding number until you like the way it looks. You can set it to 0 if you'd like.

Can I also link this header image to the URL to my home page? I believe if you delete the blog title - your blog doesn't come in the search engines. Is that true?

Can I do something about it? Like If somebody types in Travel + Culinary Blog - Mine should come in the top searches?

Can I do the same in the side bar as well? Specially - I have 3 image icons - FB, TWITTER, MAIL ME - they are coming as three images in borders. Plus there is gap in between them. Ideally I would like all of these to appear without borders and without spaces.

Replace the image URL with one that you upload to your media library. Adjust padding-top until it fits well with your image.

To remove the grey border from images in posts too, use this instead:

^^ It's the same rule as above except it adds ".entry img".

There is also a grey background added when you are using a caption for an image. You can see examples at http://ishitaunblogged.com/2011/10/31/smuggled-into-godfather%E2%80%99s-sicily/

If you would also like to remove the grey background color from those captions, add this:

.wp-caption {
background: none;
}

If you find any other images that still have borders after you add the rules above, please provide a link and point out which image for us.

You could use this to get hide it completely:

.hr-border {

}

And if you wanted to add back some kind of a border, you could use this:

  margin-top: 10px;
}

Adjust the numbers and colors as necessary.

It is not showing featured images. The images are supposed to show on featured posts, and also on regular posts. I have it set as 4 featured posts in double column, and regular posts in single column.

In the description of the theme page by wordpress it does not say any programming or adjustments are required. Is the theme malfunctioning for me?
