Using the Kubrick theme
On my cell phone I don't see the right hand side of my blog so don't have the Blog email sign up option displayed. What can I do? Can I do this with the existing Kubrick theme - if not - I was looking to change to the Contempt theme and add pages (menu options on the nav bar) but don't know how to get the code or the Blog email signup in that page. How do I get the HTML for that? Thank you.

ok - but this doesn't answer why the date doesn't show up on the emailed post. When you subscribe to the blog, an email is sent that looks like this in my inbox:
[New post] Mistake? Is There Such a Thing???

When you open it in the upper left hand corner it says 'New post on' but there is no date. I would show you a screen shot but can't figure out how to get it into this reply box. thanks, ruth

Using the Kubrick them chrissopa.wordpress.com - when you look at the posting it does not display the date when posted. Also, on the email (through wordpress blog subscription) it simply says, "New post on" and nothing else. Please note, when you first pull up the blog the date is displayed. However, when you click on a specific blog posting the date is no longer there.

I have gone through every setting in the theme on my blog. I have the date set up properly - what is controlling this and how can I get the date to appear?

I noticed today the facebook like button has disappeared, and in its place there is a new button "share on Facebook". Clicking on facebook like button was equal to sharing..and didn't require extra effort.
I'm wondering if there is way to get it back. My blog is still on wordpress.com and not on my own domain. I'm using Kubrick theme. I'm also wondering how did it change itself!

Developers please bring it back!!

You will need to upload your header image again in your Header page (Appearance > Header).

You can access your old header image at http://sacroom91france.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/douce-france.jpg.

Could someone help me with the single pages? When I click each individual post the page isn't correct, only the main home page works with the new layout. Do you know what I need to add to fix the individual pages? Or to just keep the sidebar on the individual pages? Since the sidebar vanishes. Here is a screen shot.

I have Gimp and Mac Paintbrush at the moment, those are the only 2 I have and Gimp seems very hard to work with so I use Paintbrush, it's only basic but I know how to work it. I understand how to do it, so the white side is for the content column and the colour I choose is for the sidebar column. I got it :D Makes perfect sense! I just can't thank you enough for this, I was pulling my hair out trying to figure it out and it seemed impossible but you make it look so easy! You have made my day :D Well night lol since I am in the UK, haha! You know where to find me if I can ever help you out with anything at all :) Just ask! I best get to bed now and thanks again. I will tell you when I put it live and you can see your hard work paying off :D
Lorna.

The image I created has white on the left side (the part that goes under the content) and then grey on the right side (that goes under the sidebar). The reason it had to be done that way is due to the way that Kubrick is designed. There are some other ways to deal with it, but it ends up taking a lot more CSS'ing to do it. Kubrick is messy to work with.

What you do, is to create an 810px wide by 400px tall image in an image editing program and have that with a white color. Then you create a 215px wide by 400px tall block on the right side (align both on the right edge) and make that block the color you want. Then when you have it done, you resize the image (with the "keep proportions turned off in your image editing program) and resize it to 810px wide by 1px tall. You then save that as either a jpg or a png file and that is the file you upload and use.

The 400 tall I used above is just an arbitrary number so that you have enough area to work with.

This can be done in any image editing program such as MS Paint, or Gimp, Photoshop, etc. I actually used Adobe Illustrator because I've done so much illustration work with it that I'm very familiar and quick with it. Photoshop and I can work together, but we aren't the best of friends.

What image editing program do you use?

It was fun doing this for you, and you are very welcome.
