Hi,
this is the problem: when i click add images nothing display, any windows any tabs.
I can add and I see only images uploaded with "images in evidence" buttom (right side column)
I use both Explorer 7 and Mozilla.
i have the same problem with Add Links

Hi,

When you click Add Images, it should display a new window where you will see 2 tabs
1) Upload Files
2) Media Library

Do you see the images you had uploaded earlier?

If yes, select the image you want to insert(it will be highlighted with a Tick mark) set the properties and alignment, and you should be good.

I'm new with wordpress. I try to insert imagines in my post (clicking on "aggiungi media" box). It never works. It is possible only insert suggested imagines, but I wish to use my works.
I can only insert imagines in evidence (box on the right side of the page), but they stay on high side of the post.
The imaginese are in media library!
I have the same problem when I try to insert a link.
I guest if it is a limit of the Twenty ten them.
I need an help!, thanks !

I use Columnist theme and have quite a few photos on my site that are taking up space. I have 438 photos and I'm at 55%.

A few photos are inserted into a post and then I create a separate photo gallery for all the rest of the related photos.

iPhoto's default formatting is JPEG. I resize photos after I insert them into the post or after I add them to the media library/create a gallery (100x100 up to 300x200 max.)

Do I need to go back to all photos in iPhoto to resize and reformat to save space? Will that mess up the posting dates and cause a page 404 error?

If there are duplicates, is there a way to automatically find them?

When I drag or export photos to insert into post, they go into a 'grid' where I can add captions and they also appear (like a 'list') in the dashboard under media. Do I then have two sets of the same photos or is the initial grid the same as the media list?

Or, if you like, you could use a text widget.
Make a draft post and put your image into it with the text you want above or below it.
The sidebar in Ocean Mist is only 193 so your picture should be smaller than that so it will fit into the sidebar.
Switch to the text editor and copy all the code.
Insert a text widget into your sidebar.
Paste the code into the widget.
Save.

Sorry guys! If I'd looked first....

I've gone the Export route (Dashboard > Tools > Export), successfully, all posts and images. Followed the instructions in the Support article on Importing. Thanks WP...you guys rock!

Hi there,

I would like to import the images in the Media Library of an old blog of mine which I have set to Private. How can I do that please? It isn't an overly huge library.

If it is not possible to do, how can I import just one or two of the images only, perhaps separately?

You're welcome.
The 3GB would get filled up easily if you made the mistake of uploading huge high resolution images. You don't seem to be guilty of that!

So, if I delete them from the media library, they get erased from my posts as well. Good to know.

Anyways, thanks for helping me out. I am surprised to see that 900 images take only 6% of the available space. I thought that 3GB could get filled up easily with pictures. I guess not. Anyways, thanks again.

Short answer: Yes they will be removed.
Longer answer: A browser can only display an image if the image is hosted somewhere on the net. When you upload an image, you send a copy of it to be stored somewhere and acquire a web address (URL). When you insert an image in a post, you tell the browser what the URL of the image is. Your media library shows all the files that are stored in the storage space WP provides for your blog. Deleting an image from your media library means erasing it from that storage space; so its original URL will represent a file that no longer exists, so the browser will display a cross or a questionmark in place of the deleted image.

Before you worry about this again, keep in mind that the free space WP provides for your blog is 3GB: that's space enough for thousands of (properly sized) images. For example, in my test blog I have uploaded around 900 images so far, and they've taken up only 6% of the available space.

Good day to all. I was just wondering. Will the pictures I uploaded to the media library be deleted from my posts if I remove them from the media library. The pictures are already uploaded and inserted in the posts, but will they be removed if the images are removed from the media library?

I hope you understood what I am asking. Don't know a better way of formatting the question, lol. :)

There are changes coming to the way media is handled which hopefully will overcome the present limitation. For right now, you can't detach images, but you still can use "includes" to make the images appear elsewhere.

If the page is truly redundant, you could delete it. That would unattach the image files. Then you can attach the image files to the post following these instructions http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/unattached-files/

On my Demo Site, I have extra spaces in my gallery shortcode in front of and after the brackets so that I don't unintentionally display a Gallery in the middle of the post. :)

You'd need to delete the spaces so that the code looks like
[gallery include="XXX,xxx,XxXx"]

Justjennifer, thanks for your help - but I'm still struggling ...

I copied the example from your blog, replacing the IDs - but when I previewed the page, all it showed was the code. I'm clearly still doing something wrong.

The page to which the drawings are attached will not be used and do not form part of the menu. The website is shared by several people, and I did not upload the images, so they're not on my computer. Is it possible for me to detach the images from that redundant page and use them on the new page as a gallery?

I am not using the normal wordpress gallery option. In the Avid theme you have the possibility to upload your photos. They appear in the "Gallery". The special Avid format "Gallery" shows your photo's in gallery format. There is nothing in the normal WordPress panel when you use the standard "Gallery option". I choose the Avid theme just because of the better gallery view.

@kittaroos you will need to modify the Gallery shortcode in the Post or Page Text editor to use "includes" with the attachment ID number of the image you want to display. Same question for me.
I use the premium Avid theme with the "gallery" format they have.
I tend to post photos separately in a post first. After a while I create a post to show the pictures in a gallery format. As it appears now, I have to upload them again.

I know how to create a gallery by uploading images from my computer - but how do I do that using images in the website's library, particularly if they are already attached to an existing page?

That is what I thought. They are attached to pages so I will have to delete quite a lot of them and redo them all. There should be a simple way to unattach them if you make an error :)

The only way to unattach them is to delete the post that they are attached to. Or simply upload the images again.

I cannot find a way to "unattach" a picture from a page in the Media Library without deleting it. Is there a way to do this as I have tried and looked everywhere and canot find anything that allows me to do this and I have a lot of pictures a customer wants on a different page and need to unattach them from the page they are on.
