I used to have at least 99 images on each page (last posts) because I had configured it in this way. Suddenly the max number of images that can be displayed is 50. When I try to change it again as I had it since I started using this theme, is not posible.

Any idea of this issue?

Note: the numerous videos and articles on the interent apply to WordPress.org installs and not to WordPress.com free hosted blogs unless they clearly state WordPress.com and we experience bloggers on this forum who are confused because they have relied on tutorials that do not apply to their WordPress.com blogs.

Now here are my opinions:

1. If you are committed to blogging over the long term then I recommend purchasing a domain mapping upgrade ASAP http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/

2. If you have a professional or business site where you are building your brand I recommend you purchase a No-Ads upgrade. http://en.support.wordpress.com/no-ads/

3. If you have a personal blog and you have CSS editing skills and you are willing to pay for a custom design upgrade every year then go for it, play and have fun. But do don't fool yourself into believing that a custom design upgrade is required to create a successful blog. When it comes to attracting and maintaining readers it is the quality of your content (original and unique content) and not the container it's displayed in that attracts and secures faithful readers/subscribers/commenters.

Note also that the CSS editing is theme specific and any CSS editing you did cannot be used if you move your blog content later to a WordPress.org install. The same goes for premium themes too - they are not transferable.

WordPress.COM is about as "robust" as it comes - you can have thousands of page views a day to your blog and the servers won't even blink - there are about 30,000,000 blogs here plus many company sites - think CNN ,many radio stations, Ford Motor and the list goes on -

Given that explanation, it seems like going with the free version on the dot com side makes sense. Thanks for your quick reponse... I'm not sure if I clicked on the submit button before your response came up.

There is no limit.

I'm assuming it's fairly easy to migrate/upgrade to a more robust version at a later date? OR should I just do that now... I've already registered a user/blog name.

New on the block, so forgive me for my lack of understanding.

Just about to launch a blog. I'm starting on the free version and wondering: Is there a limit to the number of followers/friends/subscribers I can have to the blog?

Likely looking at about 100-200.

I'm assuming it's fairly easy to migrate/upgrade to a more robust version at a later date? OR should I just do that now... I've already registered a user/blog name.

On the blog stats page itself, each section only shows ten of whatever it is: referrers, search engine terms, whatever. To get the entire list, you need to click on the link which is the title of that section.

Hi, I've been watching this for weeks now on my blog stats page: the number of search engine terms is NEVER more than 10. First I thought it was just a coincidence, but lately the 10 terms show up early in the day, almost every day, and then nothing all day. Obviously is no coincidence.
Does anyone know why is this happening?

Podz says it's "about 25 megs" of space. That's the cloestest we've gotten to an offical response on the subject. I don't have backend access so I have no way to check myself.

The quoted 25mb (I believe) is storge for uploaded files. That's it. Not a month, year or otherwise. Once it's full it's full. Or so I understand

Photobucket is ok for images, I use Flickr for my images and have no trouble with it at all.

You can link the images just as you are currently doing from photobucket. Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Photobucket works, use it. If it doesn't, change!

hey people, thank you so so SO much for the replies and informative suggestion. I found a new image uploader already and heck, it's working just fine! Photobucket that is. It's good albeit a little slow and it has its hang ups once in a while but as long as there's an optional image upload programme, who am I to complain!? I would appreciate it if you guys have any other suggestions and comments about uploading images on WordPress. Then again, the 25 mb storage space is for a month or past, present and future?

cornell: ok..at least someone answers my question. thanks a lot! okay..since we all have an allocated space of 25 mb [is it?!], does it mean that the entire blog can only have 25 mb worth of images and blog entries? that means that I would probably have to resort to paying for a host instead, no?

dr. mike: thanks for that suggestion. I'm trying other image shack and some other free image upload programmes. And oh~ is it okay if you answer the question I posted to cornell regarding the 25 mb space allocation? Thanks again dr. mike.. went to your blog. Really informative:D

nosysnoop: yeah, I just found out about that too. More often than not, the thumbnail will end up with really bad pixels hence my detest for thumbnail pictures. If you hv actually visited my page, you would have seen that my pictures are large and clear. Although I chose the USING THUMBNAIL option. Thanks for the reply :)

I resize all my images to no more than 600 in width. But if they are large, it will show the image at a large size. But to view the original size, then click it again and then it's the BIGGER image.

Nosy's going to have to answer the size questions. I don't use the service.

Chances are any Pictures you are seeing in your browser after you deleted them are found in your browser's cache. That's why you're still seeing them.

You're probably going to have to reupload the pictures to supload and then go back and edit the posts to point at the new site.

Yes, if you delete an image from the server they will be gone.

You can't get them back and if anyone is trying to read the old posts they will only see a placeholder for the image rather than the image itself.

nosysnoop: hey, thanks. That was a fast reply :D Tried supload. It worked but it links the image to the original size, no? Is there a way that the images I upload don't have to be referred to view it's original size?

And my main question,if I delete current images of my previous blog entries from the server, does it mean that it will be gone too altogether from my blog?

Hey there. I know that there's already an existing thread [in reference to the recent thread: limited storage space for images] which posted the same question but I think that didn't help much I guess. well, I certainly have reached the limited storage space for my image upload hence this post.

I've deleted several images from my older posts and when I view those affected posts later, the pictures are gone. I've deleted some before this but the images are still there. I umm.. just don't get it. Confused will be a better word.

Is there a way that I can retain those pictures in my blog yet still have sufficient space for future image upload? I don't think Flickr or any free image hosting website will help since I actually upload a deluge of pictures at one go, I'm not blogging about one picture at a time. Paying for a webhost can be quite costly so it's not a good idea either.

Then again, if I continue to delete the pictures and ading new ones on a daily basis, the storage limit will come to an end sooner or later. Resizing my pictures might not be a good idea. I use the thumbnail option for all my images btw.

If no one can help me out with my question, it's alright :D but just tell me, if let's say I delete those images from the server, does it mean that it will be gone too altogether from my blog? If that is the case, it's not even funny anymore :( I really hope someone nice out there could share some help. Thanks :)

Thanks Doc Mike.. i've adopted the free image hoster for time being and am considering moving to paid hosting so I have more flexibility for the future.

Actually you should be using thumbnails in your posts and letting your visitors choose if they want to clikc through and see the full size picture. Especially since you're throwing around half meg files in some of your posts.

What I would do is drop staff a Feedback and explain your situation. They might be able to do something for you. (I've been told that one of the paid features in the future planned is larger storage.) I don't know if they can assist you since space granted per used is set for everybody instead of allocated per user but they might have something they can come up with.

If they can't, I would do as suggested and try one of the free image hosters. (Which I see you've already done) Either that or just go out and sign up for paid hosting. Most places will give you a good size of storage, like a gig or so.

Wait!! Don't delete them all. If you upload them to supload or another image uploader, then you can have as many pictures as you want. I don't use WordPress for my images because I use an insane amount of pictures a day and would use up the allowed limit quickly. Either get them on thumbnails which your users can click to a bigger size, or upload them to supload.com or if you get an account at Flicker or Photobucket. But those last two have a monthly bandwidth limit.

Sorry, you have used your space allocation. Please delete some files to upload more files.

Have deleted some but not working... i guess i have to delete a lot more.

So, if I want more space, is the only solution to move out of WordPress?

The message is coming from WordPress.

Vivian - the file sizes are reduced to about 105kb.. is that still too large?

Nosysnoop - i don't mind the bar saying "click the image for full size" but what
never tried supload

So, I suppose what this all means is that I need to either:

1. Delete some pictures
2. Reduce some/all to thumbnail

but even so, i'll get this problem again in the future right as there is a limit to storage in wordpress?

If you want to pay, try Photobucket or Flicker. They have a monthly bandwidth limit though. That's why I don't go there because I know I would go over the limit in just a matter of days. Or try supload. They're free but they have a bar on their pictures saying 'click the image for full size'.

You've got quite a few pictures on your site and because they are high quality, they are probably pretty large. You may want to use one of the free hosts for pictures and link from there. Check the forums for possible off-site storage links.

You cannot "buy" space from wordpress.com - everything here is free, including the clicks you get by having folks like me look at your blog and try to help you. Here are some suggestions. Perhaps what you can do is to go back through your old posts as there really aren't that many and reduce your photos to thumbnail sizes. Another important thing you can do is to consult the FAQ and read the sections on optimizing and uploading photos. I hope this helps.

BTW you did not clarify where this "you have exceeded your limit message is coming from". Is it coming from wordpress ( I find that every hard to believe)or are you using some service like flickr, etc.

How can i delete pictures without ruining my old posts?
