re: http://paperbackbone.com/
Blog editors and word processors are not the same and do not work the same way. The web standard is one blank line only, so you cannot add more blank lines by pressing return repeatedly like you would do with a typewriter or in a word processing application. If you want to learn how to format and space your posts and pages see:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/writing-and-formatting-poetry/

If you are working in the Visual editor, to get single spacing between paragraphs hold the SHIFT key down and simultaneously click ENTER at the end of the paragraph.

If you are working in the HTML (Text) editor, a single click of ENTER will give you a single-spaced line, and two clicks of ENTER will result in double spaced lines. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/09/13/wordpress-formatting-and-spacing/

P.S. When you create a new post, always make sure the Format tool is set to Paragraph before you start typing. It's in the Visual editor Row 2 first position "style". See the illustration here http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2 If you forget to do that then edit the post, highlight all in the Visual editor, select Paragraph from the Format tool, switch editor to Text then switch back to Visual and click Update.

Why does WP strip
? It makes absolutely no sense. I've been trying for hours to get line breaks when I want them. No threads have had any solutions, and nothing WP posts in its tutorials about plugins make any sense to me. This place has some bad writers producing content. And tell me why WP is lacking one of the most basic keyboard functions found in every other text editor I have ever used. I have to install in a plug-in for to make a line break? What? I'm about ready to leave this site for blogspot.

Okay I see the difference. It seems that the headlines are adjusting based on the screen size. It looks really well on a narrow width screen compared to a wide screen size. On my 1280x1024 monitor, there are only two words on the second line of the headline, leaving a wide space between the second and the third line. But it looks fine if shrink the browser window to smaller width.

Speaking of using this theme without a sidebar. I need to have my logo incorporated some how in a visible display at top. Given the header image does not adjust to the size, I am not able to insert my logo into the header appropriately (it cuts off on smaller screens). I also wish to have Comment widget at the top because otherwise the audience interaction doesn't show up. I guess I am willing to make a compromise here.

Thanks.

The space before the last word of a title is automatically converted into a non-breaking space, to prevent "orphans" (a single word as the last line of a paragraph). This happens no matter what the theme. The only way to override it is paste this right before the last word (minus the spaces):

& # 8 2 0 1;

That's the HTML entity for a thin space: it will allow a line break between the last two words.

I love this theme, but the post headlines are doing something weird.

For example, the post linked below is called "Start with what you've got".

http://blamelewis.com/2011/08/22/increasing-faith/

There's enough room on the first line of the title to fit the word "you've" (I know because I've tried it without the word "got"), but for some reason, it's creating a line break and shifting "you've got" down to the second line.

Any idea why, or how to fix this?

It would look a lot better if, for long titles like this, it used the whole length of the line.

I'm using the Pilcrow theme with one right-hand sidebar (widgets are dragged to the main Sidebar space). It has worked fine for nearly two years, but now an extra blank line is being added to any widget that I place near the top of the sidebar.

If I place a text widget there, the anomaly shows up as a line break (hard return) in the middle of the text. If I place a picture widget, a blank image box appears below my title but floating above the main image box. If I place the Recent Posts widget there, I get an extra list box with a single blank bullet below my title and above my main list box.

The "blank line" is in a fixed position near the top of the sidebar, and its position isn't affected by adding or removing widgets above it.

Is there any way to fix this?

How about a ‘Comment’ anchor link somewhere which jumps to the comment form? Best would probably right beside ‘Reblog’ and ‘Like’ but it looks like there’s not enough space. Even if it would fit in english what about the other languages which tend to have longer words.

It came like expected. The german text for the Like feature is longer than the english one. As a result the text breaks into a new line:
