I have searched high and low and I am not sure if it is because I don't how to explain what is going on or just that I some how did something that nobody else has done... Here is my issue

I am using a them called SpaPress I found on line that I am able to customize perfectly for what I am want however when I started showing it to someone in IE all of the links are bad. When I click on Hello World! to open that post IE shows tries to go to http://vcbathbodytreats.com/blog/#/?p=1 so it goes back to just the main page .com when I look at the properties of the link its correct, if I right click and open in new tab or page its correct but whenever I click a link it adds /#/ after blog and goes back to vcbathbodytreats.com and I have to page back and add /blog/ after the .com myself.

Everything works in Chrome, I have not tested in Firefox or Safari since I have not download them yet but I want to get this issue fixed before I move on to completing the site.

Hi folks,

I host a blog at project-blu.com/nerd and have three issues, the first one listed is becoming quite pressing. Any guidance is appreciated.

1. Internal Link Issues: All my pages and even some of my admin links keep taking me to a particular blog post as opposed to the correct location. Example: I want to go to the About Us page in the menu, when I click on it I end up here (http://project-blu.com/nerd/blog/2012/07/18/nerd-world-super-villains/). This is true for any other page links I have in the menu as well as many of the admin links in the CP.

2. URL Redirect (Site Name): I have the URL (project-nerd.com) purchased from a different provider than my host. Because my WP setup is a Network setup (house multiple blogs), I can't find a way to make my permanent link project-nerd.com as opposed to project-blu.com/nerd. The instructions for doing this on a single blog do not work for the multi-blog setup and I am having a hard time finding any guidance.

3. Network (Mult-Blog) Setup: I don't need a networked WP install on my host, as I am only running one blog out of that directory. The problem is, the only way I know how to remove the network option is by manually editing the code in the directory, but this removes my apps and themes as they are installed at the network level (you can't install at the blog level). Any advice on changing this (easily) to a single blog setup?

Once again, any guidance on these issues will be much appreciated.

I checked the email I copy/pasted it from - is there anything that might cause WP to strip code? (I'm not sure if that's the proper terminology.) What I copied and pasted had the "http://"

It also happens when I try to copy/paste other things - embedding video, other widgets, etc.

You start the link with <a href="www.vksykes.com" ... (deleting the rest of the line here)

Like raincoaster said, this is incorrect HTML code. You must start a link as follows:

<a href="http://www.vksykes.com" ...

You must start all links with http:// in order for them to work.

Otherwise, I see nothing else odd in that post.

It's happening right now in my draft post "Look What VK Sykes Made!"

And most recently, I was trying to link to vksykes.com, but it kept being changed to "limecello.wordpress/www.vksykes.com" for some reason - I didn't do anything different. (I use the visual editor and insert links.) In the html the link shows as it should.

TT - I'm not posting an affiliate link

Believe me - I've read all the TOS and various pages carefully before starting any of this - I know most affiliate links don't work, other than amazon ones, and a potential few others.

I'm trying to post a link to a very innocuous, non-advertising website, like google.com. And wordpress is changing it, for no reason, to add "limecello.wordpress/www"

If it were an affiliate link, the link would be changed to the wordpress page, and it wouldn't come back with a 404 message.

Timethief - thanks, I know how to do links. I tried to explain it above- I insert multiple links into every post. It's this random issue that occurs.

>.< Ugh - the original post stripped what I did.

I tried to say - it looks normal with the "a hred" etc "www.google.com" target="_blank" BECOMES "limecello.wordpress.www.google.com"

Obviously the latter isn't good, and I want to know what makes it happen/what I can do to fix it. There's no changing the html because it looks normal - but the actual live post (or even preview) obviously brings back a 404 message

(Does that make sense now?)

Thanks

Hello there,
Please see:
links pages and posts
links text widgets

This is the general format of a link:
General link model:

<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>

You type the anchor text in first. Then you use your mouse to highlight the anchor text ie. to "select" it. Then you click the link icon and the pop-up box appears for you to type the URL etc. into. Do note that the practice of using "here" as anchor text is not a good one at all. The best practice is to use meaningful anchor text such as the exact title and/or keywords in the title in the article you are linking to.
